Hi there
My names Andrew Foster im a musician and have been playing professionally for many years now as a songwriter www.andrewfostermusic.co.uk supporting many artists touring etc. Thats not a plug per say thats so you get some background, im a rock musician essentially i guess even though i am predominantly and acoustic player
Ive always had a vague interest in classical music and contempary classical composing for film etc I dont pretend to know anything im very much new to it all. Although i have worked in Goldcrest Post Production and studied it, i claim to be very much a newbie
I wondered if you would take a few mins to listen to the attached MP3 and let me know your thoughts on it. Id like to get into composing more
Many thanks
Andy

That's pretty sweet. I would definitely continue :) What sample pack are you using? It's the only thing that really lets it down - the glockenspiel has a funny sound and you hear the harmonics more than the actual notes. It would be great performed by a proper ensemble. Also be careful of chords in lower octaves (the final few bars in particular) as it can sound muddy, maybe keep the lower root note and cut the 3rd, putting it an octave or two up?
Great tune though :)
Thanks James!
Im using my first ever Orchestra package Edirols Orchestra....
I havent changed anything internally or edited much of the samples sonically and having never mixed an ensemble before was a bit scared of it hehe so i left it as it is just changing spacial and reverb settings
I mix my own material all the time but this is a whole new animal....its great! Its really excited me.
Ill try that James, many thanks for your time mate
keep em coming people.....EDUCATE ME! :-)
Ah yeah I had Edirol Orchestral, they have really good percussion sounds I still use, I got Miroslav now for most of my stuff. Edirols dead easy to use though :) the first track on here is Edirol... www.soundcloud.com/jamesmulvale/sets/showreel
JAMES! its all about Revolutions Part 1.........
Miroslav....okay ill look into that after ive got my head round what im doing
48 views but only you comment James......is that good or bad!!! hehehe
I've had much the same, mate. Touch of snobbery round these parts I feel.
I thought this was the place to be....i dont mind if they dont like it!!!
Maybe i should interact a bit more maybe they think im gonna be here for 5 mins to build my ego or something......whats this Queen thing your doing?
Its good, definitely some good parts in there. I cant really comment the mixing and sound library usage, so I will mainly comment on the music itself.
The one thing I wish you would do is develop the theme more instead of just repeating it as many times as you did. Add counter-melodies, change the theme a little to add variation, even as simple as complete changing the voicing of the theme instead of just adding instruments on top of the main theme in other instruments.
There was a moment in where a new theme or idea was coming through, but it didnt stay long enough to enjoy it. I would have wished if you had developed that moment more.
Other then that, this was a good piece. great job.
It just takes a little bit of patience, this is a somewhat slow moving forum and everyone on here are also composers wanting people to take a listen to their music as well. Interact with the other composers and post in their threads and they might return the favor.

yeah good man Tyler...
Im still writing like a pop/rock musician arnt i hehe be brave i guess, no rules!
Cheers for the coment Tyler thats quite a CV you have there!!!
your a proper composer as apose to some bloke from England with a new plugin hehehe
Learning learning all the time, my theory is pretty bad i do loads by ear always have even my guitar alternate tunings and the like are done by ear so I may run into brickwalls composing things, but its so much fun!
