"Frolic" for String Quartet

Hello again,

Thank you to everyone who has given feedback on the first two movements of my "Spring Suite" for String Quartet.  Below is the third and final movement, "Frolic".

The entire suite is 7:10 in duration.  One day soon, I will compile it into a more suitable score format for listening in its entirety.  In the meantime, here is the more playful 3rd movement:

  • Hi Brandon,

Your string quartet writing is noteworthy... Where/How did you get that? Excellent.

  • Thank you, Al

I'm not sure what aspect you are asking about? The writing or the production or ?

  • Good morning, Brandon,

Well, it's certainly a frolic, full of exuberance of the renewal that spring carries. An accomplishment. I agree with Ali - your quartet writing is excellent.

It might be possible to do more with the dynamics, particularly distinguishing the separate lines/entries here and there but basically it's all there.

    Very nice.

  • Thank you again, Dane.

Appreciate the feedback.  While I have done a fair amount of orchestration, this is my first string quartet. It is good to know I am on the right track for this format.

  • FYI - I have now compiled all three movements of the suite into one video.  The new score format is easier to follow as well.
    Enjoy.

  • Hi Brandon,

This is lovely! Soft and tender, with real emotion in it, and fresh-sounding. It has a headlong forward momentum that kept my interest from beginning to end, engaging harmony, and a variety of color that held my attention. Shout out for innovative video! Thanks for sharing!
