Film / Game music

Hi everyone,

I'm just trying to enter the game music industry here in Brazil..

And as I've spent a long time without posting anything here,  i decided to keep up with the site again..

I started righting this piece yesterday and i'm having trouble to finish it.. Like always..

I would love some feedback..

Thanks

Bernardo Sodré

  • Thank you very much Alex!

The humor was intended! I love to compose this kind of melodies.. With a little bit of humor and mystery i guess..

Thank you for the tips! The instruments are not completely in the center but are not hard left or right as well..

I will make some tests later..

Wow, Bernado, your piece is awesome!

Amazing rhythmic drive, unusual harmonies and a tastefully bombastic brass section as well. I can imagine it going well with a fantasy RPG or a real time strategy game set in a fantasy world. I can also hear subtle humour in the music though I don't know if this was intended or not. But I think it sounds good - there's too much overly serious music in fantasy games these days.

If I had any criticism to make it would be that all of your instruments are panned quite centrally. Maybe consider panning some of the strings hard left and right like a real orchestra. That might sound extreme but it always works for me. It makes the sound more realistic and it makes each part more audible.

    Well done and keep going!

    Alex :)

  • Hi Bernardo, amazing job.. I have never played any game so hard to say if your music could work as a game music background... definetely very unique kind of harmonics.. the sound is great... would love to know what DAW and virtual instrument you use.. all the best

  • Very good. I can easily imagine this as menu music/combat prep. The first (calmer) part could be seperated int he final product from the rest, I feel they would be utilised in different places with success, I'm not sure how it could all work out as one.

I suggest you bridge the pause sections. I am not very sure about the first entrance of the choir, it sounds kinda thin to me.

Have you come in contact with any developers? In what kind of games are you looking into?

  • Thanks Spiros!

I think this is more like a demo song for my portfolio.. Of course I will use the separated ideas in some future project, but is not something I want to sell as a whole song..

I have contacted some developers and i'm already closing some deals for creating the music and the FX for a small game..
