  • It felt too tonal and basic for its subject matter and didn't really paint a picture for my ears Jon. Did you consider a more dissonant or chromatic approach or one that exploited more vivid writing? One thinks of great solo flute pieces like Debussy's 'Syrinx' where the linear narrative is seemingly flexible and consequently more evocative and I guess that's what I was missing here. Of course my expectations for music have nothing to do with your intentions whilst composing but perhaps my comments might be useful next time around.
