About Me:
Many years in the business man and boy so to speak.
No formal training in music. A teacher of English language taught me three chords on guitar, D,G, and A to play and sing Red River Valley.
Decided to go into Engineering when a teenager and make music Semi-pro. Singing and playing guitar, banjo, lap steel, keyboards usually not at the same time or even the same year. Although I dabbled in writing songs when a young man I didn't really put the effort into it until this year. The results of some of my work featured here.

A day in the life of a fool (part two)

Well another week passes and not much thought of new compositions... reason? Giving up Windows XP for Vista x64. It shocks me that it has been relatively painless conducting the transition. As I type I can look at the Cubase 4.1 arrangement page on the left monitor main mixer on the right... all tidy with a orchestra template set up... piccolo at the top double bass at the bottom. Four instances of EWQLSOGold XP VST Kompakt... All four colour coded sections. Basic xfade instruments loaded and my… Continue

A day in the life of a fool (part one)

It's Saturday morning sitting here at the desk wondering whether to try and write a new cue or re-record an existing track following learning and hearing a new way of processing which will transform an ordinary tune into something everlasting lol! I'm out gigging tonight with Gerry Mac at a local club. We'll be mercenary as usual, giving the people what they want and expect. Songs they've heard a million times. No wonder I'm interested in using the newest virtual instrument technology to compos… Continue

Thanks Ray, I just wanted to know what you thought about Halion since it wasn't mentioned earlier. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hi Ray, since you use Cubase, do you know anything about Steinberg's Halion Symphonic Orchestra? I'm guessing it would work well with Cubase since it's made by the same company. Any advice is appreciated, as usual. Thanks.

Hi Ray. I found a few moments to listen to your tracks and I really enjoyed them all. I especially liked The Great Glen which I thought was very beautiful, The Cat That Got The Cream which was full of fun and More Summer Winds which was really nice and mellow. I also liked A Strange Theory and Intrigue and Innuendo. There was a lot of character is those not to mention musical interest and terrific stylistic elements. Just thought I'd give you my feedback!
