Paul's Theme

Hey Folks:

Check out my latest composition, "Paul's Theme." Composed in Finale and Seqenced and mixed in Sonar. Libraries used: East West Silver, Edirol.

Please leave comments. Any ideas on how to get the sustained trumpets and strings to sound less "electronic"?

Ave Maria

Hey Everyone:

Check out my newest composition, my rendition of Ave Maria. It was commissioned by my good friend Mario Pearson, Director of Music at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City, Missouri. His schola cantorum is singing it in this recording.

Hey guys,

Just added a few new songs.

The first one, "Sing Praise to the Lord," is an original comp for organ, brass, timpani, and choir.

The second one, "Savior of the Nations, Come," is and old hymn that I arranged for organ, brass, choir, timpani, violin, clarinet, and recorder.

The third one, "A Hymn of Glory Let Us Sing," uses the very popular hymn tune: Lasst uns erfreuen. This was arranged for organ, choir, brass, timpani, and crash… Continue

I'd appreciate some feedback on the piece "Classical Fury" I just uploaded. I'm especially interested in comments/suggestions on the mix and how to get it sounding more real.

I composed in Finale, mixed in Sonar. I used EWQL Silver and Edirol.

Thanks for your feedback!

Need advice!

Hey Folks,

Can anyone tell what is causing the annoying "ping" sound in the middle of my comp "Adagio for Strings?" I tried re-recording, cutting out that part of the wave, blocking out the high frequencies, nothing worked. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi Jonathan, I'm studying on the Music For The Media course. I'm a Sibelius user but I user Sonar and I've just bought a bunch of EWQL products (I bought their Composer Bundle with XP Gold Pro, Choirs, the piano and RA). I don't yet have the hardware to run them, though! I currently use Garritan Personal Orchestra, which is very good but obviously not in the same league.
Love the sound of your work! I'm not sure about that "ping" in the Adagio - I think it sounds like a triangle hit with reverb on it, personally.

HI Jonathan,
Yes it would be safe to say that no matter what software you get you will do the same amount of mixing, however on Platinum the mic positions save you time. Choirs is awesome, but you will have two interfaces to work with, plus the sequencer. Choirs module, wordbuilder module and your sequencer.
you will be totally thrilled!!
All the best

Hey Mr Jonathan,
I have Gold XP and Platinum XP. The mic positions on Platinum are fantastic plus you get 24Bit versus 16Bit. I also use Choirs, Peter Sidlecheks Complete Orchestra, and MOTU Symphonic Orchestra. Mainly I use EWQL products. The EWQL prices have really dropped over the year! Cant wait to hear more of your work. Thanks for joining my network too!

Hey buddy I found you at EWQL forum. You did a great job on the Scherzo my friend!!!
All the best and I hope to hear more from you. I could only hope you upgrade to EWQL Gold XP or Platinum to really take advantage of what they have to offer over Silver!! Trust me its worth the investment!
