Hi Stephen! Great to be back in touch.
You Hold The Key - beautifully done, I must say. The orchestrations added a great deal of emotion to the voice. She has a wonderful singing voice as well. I will be honest (would you expect any less from me?) and tell you I did not care for the mix. I think the music was a little too quiet and did not blend as well with her voice. It sounded more as if she was in a vocal booth than with the orchestra but the song itself was wonderful. Nice work, especially considering the circumstances. Don't you just love workin gon the fly like that?
Things are great here, thank you. Since we last spoke, I have worked oin a number of films and commercials as well as background music for training films, a video game and even wrote a book called,"Becoming An Indie Film Composer."
What happened with the Regis & Kelly contest? The piece you composed was brilliant!
At1:33 darker english horn opposing the flute would be nice. Solo violin, I think I see where you are going with that, but its a little buried in all that texture. Try it down an octave and solo trumpet. The chords in the piano are a bit too predictable. Can you rewrite this w/o piano and use your creativity to get those chord changes via arp strings?
no reverb... ok. I will try to add more. I am using a sample library called philharmonic. the DAW is Ableton live. I will look for a sample version of the EWQL you mentioned. Thanks a ton for your insight.
It will make me a better composer I am sure in the end. Wonderful tips!
p.s. "the un-named" is 100% sequenced. Sorry, I just cant play well enough to pull off that song without a load of mistakes. :(
I invite you to listen to the latest piece of music I have finished (Composition 14)... brutal honesty is much more appreciated than the proverbial "good job mate" with a pat on the back ...
I do realize it is not nearly as polished as I would like it to be... so please try to bear that in mind. thank you for you time. :) i wish I could sell this stuff i write. :( but then again, dont we all.....
stunning music... I WISH i could get that wonderful polished/mastered sound you get *sobs a little* very nice work indeed! I am not going to name a particular song as I like most every one!
thank you for letting me have a listen to your works... :)
Hello Stephen,
Thank you for your kind words, its lovely to meet you! I very much enjoyed listening to your music. You have such great diversity. I especially like Gameday 2008 Theme. Well, to answer your questions, I use Logic pro 8 and only Logic sounds at the moment however I had Kontakt 3 delivered on Friday :-) I used to use Sonar with Roland JV2080, Yamaha MU-80 and Alesis. I haven't used live instruments yet, but hope to do so one day.
You are right - there are many very talented composers here and everybody has been welcoming. Its been great!
All the best to you,
Marie-Anne
Hi,Stephen
Thank you my friend for your kind words...you've got some great sounding work,WOW!Love Lifes Adventures and Gameday 2008.
Last time I wrote something was back in August of last year,no time to go in the studio.Seems we have pretty much the same setup, same desk, same LCD monitors and even same software. Most of the songs were done on the Triton Extreme,JV 1080 and Motif ES6 with lots of Spectrasonics Atmospheres and RMX.
Thanks for the invite

Rui
Apropos Piano-Impro: before recording a "orchestrated piece, I develeop tunes and harmonies on the piano by improvisation. In the final midi-orchestration, I remove the piano usually. Regards, Jan
Hi Stephen, thanks alot for your comment on my page! That|s quite a coincidence that I also started playing the Church organ for Sunday Mass in the 8th Grade (not enough time for that at the moment). I enjoyed your orchestration as well! Best regards from Germany, Jan
Hello Stephen,
First I'm sorry for my late reply and thanks for the add.
Second thank you very much for your nice reply, yes I'm professional violinist but now I'm concentrating mainly on the Oriental violin.
My goal is to produce the Oriental music to the Western listeners who know (almost) nothing about the Oriental music, just they recognize the Oriental music from the augmented second, I did that successfully in Sweden, I mix the Oriental melodies with the Western background, if you listen to my composition (Samai Hujaz) Track nr. 7, (Ali Baba) Nr. 16 or Kan Agmal Yom Nr. 34, Nr. you will notice that Nr. 7 is pure Oriental but the rest are mixed, and you can watch my videos; I put 9 videos here, one of them is in Klezmer style (my video Cousin's Dance). And you can visit my site in the youtube.com if you have sometime;

I have also several orchestral works; by the way which software do you use in making your music?
I watched your videos and I left you my comments; they are so beautiful.
Best wishes and have a nice weekend,
Ahmad

Tocotta and Fugue in D minor is my favorite Organ piece of all time and I must say that you did it justice. Well done....Ron

Just kidding. I do destroy the tocata often on my digital piano turned organ.
The names are a bit misleading; a solo piano piece called "Choral Fantasy"?!
BTW, if it is you not the machine playing this difficult piece than you have frightening level accuracy.
Just listened to "Gameday 2008". Very nice piece! Nice orchestration.
thank your for your add and coment. It's very nice to meet you!
I listened to your tracks and "Lifes Adventure" is great!! I like it very much.
Best wishes from Germany

P.S. I upload my new track "Bad Rays Of Sunshine".
