Hey, Doug! Love Solstice. I've been absent from the forum for quite a while. I think I missed out. I don't know if you're interested in having your music played on podcasts, but if so you might check out www.soundcloudpodcast.com. I think it's relatively new, and they seem to play mostly electronic music (created on a computer). I love electronica but would hate to see live instrumental music go the way of the 8-track tape.
See through me was co written and produced with Alex Dunn (also on composers forum) The distortion sound is quite crackly as I'm using a fender strat (single coils) I'm working on getting a better sound.
Thanka Doug, "Two Jazzmen" was purely improvised and then accelerated, edited and left unfinished; it exists in MIDI form only. I am not knowledgeable enough in Jazz instrumentation and rhythms to arrange it with the swinging rhythm; you are right also that it needs pauses to break out the overused rhythm. Your Jazz pieces look much more interesting; they are really Jazz!
Hi Doug, many thanks for your figurative comment :) I've just added a piece I'm working on at the moment. Who knows where it will take you to...
I see right now, that you use Soundcloud's player instead of the built-in one here. I think it's a good idea, because it relieves from synchronizing two important places. Maybe I'll steal this idea ;-)
Hi. Tough question you got for me there. I rarely have favourites of anything, but there are many a great chamber piece. If I were to mention every great chamber piece, this would just be a large list of pieces, so I'll leave it be.
Some chamber pieces that sticks out to me are Griegs string quartet in g minor, op. 27 and Beethovens string quartet in c sharp minor, op. 131. When it comes to pieces for cello and piano I can't say I have anything I would call favourite.. I'm sorry. Though in example Brahms, Beethoven, Britten, Bartok (etc) have composed good pieces for this given duo.
As said, I don't really hve favourites in music. Some pieces will stand out, of course, but the repertoire I have to choose from is too great for me to have favourites.
Hey Doug, I've been browsing through this website and your name has just been cropping up everywhere! You have a totally sweet studio, and I love the jams, they've got a great feeling to them, would be good live I reckon!
