Hi Kristofer, I just wanted to let you know that I checked out Borges on Wiki. He looks very interesting. my first impression of him was very favorable. I will look for his books. I'm just finishing a bio of Einstein, so I need to find a new read.
Kristofer - Glad you like it. I will post a few more recent works too. I'd say that after writing Crossing The Straits and later a Quintet for piano and strings, my activity composing has been less.
As for Metamorphosis, I wrote this a few months after two deaths of close relatives in my family and I was quite familiar with a Marcel Dupre version of the chorale Prelude In Dulci Jubilio. I also studied one of the Bach versions and then was listening to some Reich. Through the belnder of Dupre, Bach, and Reich I came up with this. The forces available were two pianos and percussion battery. It was fun and I find many people like the piece. TO me it is a little out of character of what I usually write but not too much.
Sorry for the delay on getting back to you but the fact is, I'm seldom looking at my own page :D I couldn't stay away from the forum seeing as it's so active with scintillating conversation and comment. Yes! I'm the same liar that left.
and here I was, believing that traditional fugal and counterpoint works were not written anymore! how terribly wrong I was, and I'm glad for it. due to lack of time I can't listen through everything now, but those preludes and fugues (C major and F major) are and excellent sample of what's to come. Wish you the best, keep writting good music.
Sounds like things are comming along goodly for you. Glad to hear that there is no excessive radiation to deal with. I hope you can christen your new space with linear melodic prolongations soon. Cheers!
All is well here, been super busy with school, work etc. I am however working on something cool right now and will let you know when I post it. Finals are next week already so a bit of R+R is at hand ! Whew... thank goodness. Peace and Joy ! Be Merry Kris----
well congratulations on Gwendolyn! I know that finding time to write is a tricky deal what with the demands of "real life" throttling most creative impulses. But I also think that those few who are actually skilled in non verbal communication have a talent that needs cultivation. My writing too is on hold pretty much until after the holidays what with the Mac not working and a major work project looming that seems to eat hours. All I can say is keep writing.
My MAC died. Thats the gizmo I had used primarily to create the atmospheric disturbances that pass for my "music". I think Im done with MAC.. too quirky Saving up for an HP with 8GB memory 1 tb or hard drvie a cleverly designed beer brewing option. At that point Sibelius 6 is on the want list and so is DAW.. I might as well take the plunge. ..possibly Steinberg. Ive got a peice just asbout done but with out the computer working properly it remains balck dot on white paper. What are you working on these days?
