Hey thanks for the comments and that youtube link man. Hey those kids were awesome! I have done quite a few sax quartets/quintets in my time and that was as fine as anything I have heard. Great compositions of yours here! I love the risks you take in the midst of your traditional developments - very fresh take on tradition, thank you
Hi! to answer yr ??> about $600 for Finale (Garritan personal orchestra is bundled with it), and I have, I think 3 GB of RAM.... it's easy to run out with all those samples! IF you are an educator or a church music person. discounts are available. thanks for listening and best wishes!
Well Richrad Schletty was good enough to create an mp3 and post it for me. You know, I really don't know my way through the techno-thicket so I'm grateful for the help.
I tired to do a self-parody too, then realized it was overkill since what I write seems to be a parody of the way I wish I could write.
Now that American Songs are/is complete I think I'll sink back down into my usual stupor and just listen to music that is on the forum including yours and the work of someone who really has a gift, Karen whom I see you have met.
Well, it is I who am humbled; sorry so late; I don't often log on here, but am glad to be a part of this forum! I don't know how to account for my music, it seems to be either given or not by the energy I just call the "muse". And when it is not there, I am helpless! Best wishes, and thnak you for listening -- Karen
Thank you Kristofer. If I'm well grounded, then I think I owe my parents a great deal for all their efforts and of course my supportive husband but especially I think, my children. I have here, to share with you, something my oldest daughter wrote when she was a young child, perhaps in Grade 5 or so. It was part of an assignment in school. My husband often dismisses it as a child's poem/words but every time I read it, I get something from it.
The Creed of Jenny I believe in equality for everyone
And freedom
Freedom of speech through music, film, voice, text and art
Freedom to life, time and education
Freedom for safety of self and of others
All people and animals deserve to be safe from any harm and abuse
I believe that one must be loyal, respectful and responsible
For themselves, for their actions and for their obligations
Everyone also has a right to fun and relaxation
For free time to spend in your own ways as long as it respects
the safety of others
I believe in self-respect
To be confident in yourself no matter what others may think of you.
You decide how to live your life, not the 'popular' majority or
your parents
Your parents are a guide and a close loved one who deserve
to be respected
But they should also respect you.

So - that from my oldest daughter and my younger one, Paige - well, when she was a child, she wrote a lot of poetry - that was actually quite good and like her dad, filled with humour!
I'm sure you find the same from your children too. Thanks for visiting my page and I do come to your's often too because, as I've already told you, preludes and fugues are 'food for the brain' - and believe me, mine needs all the nutrition it can possibily get! :)
eh.. I am around kris... I have been taking a hiatus from writing for a bit. Went on vacation for a few days last week... but I have a new song brewing. Still mapping it out in the ol' noggin. Thanks for looking in on me. :)
you can email me anytime. I think you have my personal email address. if not, let me know and I will send it to you privatley.
Don't really know...I started drawing a blank ...and began working on a different piece....a new Prelude in B major...
The Scarlatti piece is very consuming....I both love and hate academic music....it fuels me with new ideas...and at the same time..constricts me to structure....ah!...the dilemma of composing....I think you can relate...I hear your works and I sense that kind of need for rooting but also for departure....
Thank you for your very generous words. American Songs, as the name implies, contains absolutely no American Songs, just noises that I think sound like American music.
But whats a few tunes among friends.
Richard Schletty up in St. Paul did a great job of putting this into MP 3 format and I'd like to get that on my CF home page but don't have the technical skills even for that!
I only wish I had your countrapuntal skills and sense of proportion.
Kristofer, May I impose on you for your email address, once again. That way I can send you American Songs.. its about 95% done. Lots of editing remains. Mine: fredrickzinos@gmail.com
Yes, I am a time served craftsman in coppersmithing. Started in 1967 but stopped in 1987 and now my hands are lily white and soft as a baby's bottom :)
I enjoyed crafting small things many in stainless steel (considered non-ferrous) including the vessel used to calibrate every road tanker in Scotland which carried customs duty chargeable liquid (whisky or petroleum). Whisky stills and condensers etc were much harder work.
Seriously. I think your contrapuntal capabilities are superb. Your fugues remind me of of a universe splitting out of control, yet held together by some unknown force. For one second, you hear the fugue is following some perfectly academic structure and immediately after that it spins out to chaos and comes back in order....btw- I am enjoying very much the Prelude and Fantasia. The Fantasia is a very good invention, the tema is very determined and moving...
Yea, AMW huh.. You are the one who probably turned me in! I see how you are! lol A guy cant even plagiarize any more without the Mozart police swooping down... haha! funny comment though.. Thanks for stopping by Kris. :)
Thanks . . . I guess. I'd assumed I would wait until you informed me that they were ready. I hope it all goes well. I'm working on something myself right now; it always turns out to be more complicated and more involved than initially expected.:~
Unfortunately, I got a right rollocking from my collaborator/producer for offering it up for review at no cost. However, it's only a dollar and you can place it into your hard disc, if you want.
