I listen alot to old demo/gamemusic from 80s/90s. (I don't know what type of music is in the games today haha, isn't it like movie soundtracks nowadays?). Well my point... I bought 2 cds (mp3s) with covers of Galway and "Mad max" (think jochen hippel was his real name, a german that made some really good music on the Atari ST) Both were really repetitive in style too (especially, but the music is DISTINCT! I mean, I can still hear if a tune by Hippel (haven't heard all) was composed by him.
I think your have some good stuff here, and with that I mean there is something distinct there and that is good, repetitive can be good.
I will listen again to your tunes with headphones, to see if it was my Philips-cheap-speakers that made the background noise...
I think "mastering" with EQ and stuff could be very good for this type of music
Haha, regarding simple structure) I am currently "developing" three pieces from my teens, into one piece. They were actually inspired by gamemusic. They have similar harmonics, it could work, if it doesn't come out too a pointless and trivial song I will post it).
Btw, thanks for your nice comments on my music.. Always nice to hear..
I've been here once or twice before, but didn't have time to write something.
The first one sounds a little like game-music, nothing negative, just that that the melody and maybe also the quality of the recording make me think of old computer chip-tunes that used the same type of "language" of tones or melody. I liked and the composition and structure was well thought out, but as such it didn't keep me very interested. Now that is just me, it might be the hammering piano. Something less beat-like could probably work.
The idea of having no beat, or drums is a good one here.
The second and third were more interesting, the third (in the list) being very suggestive and uses the same type of pattern as the first, the theme being very much like film music to a "building of the pyramids"-type of documentary/movie.
The same goes for the fourth.
How do you make your recordings? The soundquality is not very good, but maybe it is my (cheap) speakers.
Enjoyed the overall idea of these pieces. To take No 1 further is not necessary (it is your music), but I would.
lol... That merely means where is your music that you have composed? hopefully next time i make it around this day I will be able to peruse some of your works. :)
