Listening to "When the Saints".
I'm still stuck with our collaboration session. I'm not yet comfortable with what I have come up with, so I beg you a little more time. Hope you don't mind.
Great stuff Nigel, I'm enjoying all of it. I think I might have to join your group, even though I have no means of creating "world music". I love this.
I would love to share and create music together. But I guess we use different softwares. How do you think that'll be possible ? And also, I don't know how to read music. Any way out ?
Hey ! Cool stuff.
Very different, very calm.
It's eccentric in a sarcastic way.
It was good to hear the tabla ! I liked Starlight !
How did you get hold of so many ethnic instruments ? Like the Sitar, Tanpura, Tabla and Bansuri ? How was your you introduction to Eastern Classical ? I would love to know ?
I love "Apart". How would you take it if I asked if you could consider adding a tabla to it ?
I like "afternoon tea" as well !
You are a cool composer !
Thanks Harpsichordal, what's your name ?
Thank you for going through my music.
"Name Later" was made for a short film. But that never happened. It was to be the background of a scene where a boy and a girl meet, and pass unrecognized. They both relive and repent the moment through the rest of eternity. The film was to be called "Name Later" based on that moment, which was too precious to be named in a hurry.
Going through your music...
Hello Harpsichordal. thanks for the support , i(m sorry i didnt getback to you sooner, i've been working on a project. i appreciate the ideas about using a world music palette, i actually hadnt thought about , but i'll certainly think about it now. i'll listen to your stuff asap.
thanks again ...

I understand, and I didn't mean to criticize its duration, I simply meant it sounded so sweet, I didn't want it to end. Many short songs I've loved left me with that longing. As far as my being accomplished, and I'm not affecting humility or being coy here, I'm not. Any apparent accomplishment is more stubborness than innate talent. I'm just trying to express myself like you and everyone else here. It's easier to be impressed with another's work, because you are further removed from it. Things like Afternoon Tea that I like and attract my attention are usually things that, to my ear, seem beyond my scope or ability to write. By the time I'm finished writing my own, I'm usually so emotionally exhausted with it that's it's all I can do to gather the motivation to actually produce (record) it. It's hard to really "hear" a piece to which you're that close. I guess that's one of the purposes of a medium like this forum; fresh ears.
Afternoon Tea - I like it harmonically and rythmicly. It's one of those things you hear, and you're sorry when it's over. Any chance of elaborating on that piece? It has much potential for more material developement, and I think it'd be well worth the effort.
The next piece I am working on is weighted more heavily towards new age and less to Celtic, but it will still have strong and recognizable Celtic tones and feeling to it. Thanks for stopping to listen and comment. I hope that I will uphold your expectations with my next work.
Nigel;
My email is EMI1969@live.com. I tried my Prelude & Fant with a robust pipe organ patch. It didn't work that well. The note values of some of the dissonant suspensions were overwhelming in parts, those parts would require some surgery- but not much. You can get away with that on harpsichord though.
I might take another look at a piece I wrote a couple of years ago and consider uploading it. I call it "Yodeling in the Hispanic Manner". I wrote it more for fun than as serious art. My sister was supposed to create a Nordic-yodeling style rap to go over it, but she's yet to come forth with it. She did an impromptu rap over it at our Christmas party, and we had alot of fun with that. It's comprised of a horn section reminiscent of Schwarzwald sounding folk music in 4 time, laced with a rythm track and accordian section in three time, which lends a bizarre(sp?) latin ambience. The hilarious part though is the continual references to the "yodel-eh-ee-hoo" theme. It's pretty hard to get a decent recording of this thing out of MIDI though, without losing parts in the background. Keep an eye out for it though, and please don't hold it against me.
