you are a true composer, because your music is all about depth of emotions, without obviously being so, and you let the music find its phrases... and there is no lie in anything that you do... honesty is always the key to poetry, but talking about music is like dancing about architecture.... i am so lucky to listen to music box, without really listening as i am moved to say sweet yet daring things about your art,

you have no idea how powerful your music is...
bravo
Hello Joselynn, I am sorry, I never saw that movie. My John Williams favorites (if there are any, because almost everything is so great) are the main theme from 'E.T.' and Yoda's theme from 'Starwars'.
Couple of years ago I bought a score of 'Starwars'. Whenever I run out of ideas I take that book. reproduce a few bars of it and inspiration is back. And I feel sorry for the poor people who have to play this music in a live situation.
Hi Josellyn, just listening to your music and I try to remember what I wrote when I was your age (which is hard to do, because it's soooo long ago). Conclusion is: You are better.
josellyn, dark story is so daring, and emotionally black.../i hear melody in the quiet strings behind the shocks of the piano... this is so scorish...not anyone can do this...and a hint at melody in the piano,finally...
Howdy Neighbor! So tell me, what types of music are you writing these days? I keep getting comments about uploading music here at this site to share, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I DO have a few sound bytes (bites?) at my website at www.buddyclements.com I am sooo impressed that you also play the tuba! That rocks! I was a tuba performance major for both my bachelors and Masters degrees. Then after several years of teaching I decided to study film scoring over at nights at UCLA. I had actually ALWAYS wanted to be a composer so I went back to school to study more intensely and ended up completing a doctorate in composition at nearby Claremont Graduate University. Are you attending Citrus College? I hear they have an incredible recording/sound engineering program there! If so, can I ask you about a recording project I would like to do? You might know the guys to talk to... Have a great Sunday!
I'm just getting started, too! I've not created any music for film. BUT, each audio file uploaded to my website could be considered as "bait" for landing such a "whale" of a project! Keep at it, Josellyn. I'm four years from 60 and loving each and every minute of each and every day spent composing something new and exciting!
OK Thanks! After tracking each instrument I roll-off various frequencies, like for elec guitar, I roll-off below 200hz. For bass, I always roll-off above 300 or 400hz, depending on the results. I ALWAYS judge frequency adjustments in the context of the entire mix, not the individual track and that's worked well for me. Limiting the frequenices really helps avoid the accumulation of 'mud', but I still find the bass, challenging....
Thanks for the nice long reply. I don't understand the 'resonance shelf' idea.
For me, recording and tweaking bass tracks is difficult. I hear so many recording where the bass instrument does NOT translate very well, when listening on smallish speakers, and then there are commercial recordings that do show me a bass track that is easily heard. Any general advice about bass tracks? Sometimes the bass sounds fantastic when the whole mix is played fairly loud, and then the bass totally disappears at lower playback levels...

your piece here, is so playful and dark, you have such a sense for the dramatic, and harmony, even when only one voice is singing...
