Hi Marv,
I listened to your songs.
I must say they all are so "honest"sounding,so very clear expressing the emotions...So much can be discovered about you from listening...
I can feel the stories and the emotions of each song.
Nice compositions!Keep it up!
"no such thing as bad music"... i love your honesty. there is a lot of music i don't understand, but more and more i have a growing appreciation for such. the perceptual differences between a muscian and the end-user (if you will) bend on hearing the song as it is, and being able to hear a song for what it could be, as we discussed before. i have "bad" copies of "good" songs that noone understands (so i assume), but i find there is a draw to the mystery itself (of not understanding) and so i push into the bizzar.
Hey! Marv,
You've made my day, noticing the difference in my re-mastered Strange Theory.
Now "Storm Warning" is my favourite here. All you need is some collaboration that will allow re-recording the instruments to a higher standard and give it some pro gloss. What you are doing with the tools you have is great.
Hi Marv, thanks for taking to time to listen and leaving a comment. Appreciated. I'm currently out and about mobile so cannot access the Flash music player to listen to your songs. Will do so at the earliest opportunity though. Thanks again.
Thanks for the comment on my page. I've listened to a few of your tracks now and they come across as being very sincere, which isn't always easy to achieve.
Hi Marv,
Thank you for that wonderful compliment. I really enjoyed your music. Especially Northern Lights. It has somewhat of a Native American undertone. Your songs remind me of the 70's group Little River Band. That was a great decade for music. Keep up the great work.
Sounds like you're working with a Sound Blaster Live or Audigy? Simple yet still nice sounding synthesizer whatever it is. Your compositions are actually quite enjoyable to listen to. Welcome aboard!
Checked out your stuff too, it sounds great! Reminds me very much of video game music, like back in the day playing something like Zelda (that's a good thing to me, I love video game music :)
I can totally picture this music playing in the b/g while I'd be walking through a town or something :)
Thanks for your compliment! I'm just listening to 'marchaire' and I like it a lot. I wouldn't be hard on yourself about your abilities because your good! I think the one think that would make it even better would be to have more realistic sounds or spend a little bit of time adding some effects like reverb to the song. Just a little bit on the drums (but not the kick drum) and strings and maybe a bit of chorus to the acoustic guitar to warm it up. I'll definitely listen to some more!
Thanks for listening to my tracks. I appreciate the good word.
+1 to Gavin's comments below. If you applied some randomization to the volumes of the notes (velocity), as well as the timing... "groove quantize" or something (I'm not familiar with cakewalk's method of "humanizing" the groove, the note timings and velocities) I think it could bring more life to these tunes.
I'd also suggest minimizing the drums. When dealing with a limited soundset, make that an asset, not a liability. Meaning, approach it as a percussion track, a shaker and hand drum, not a full pop kit. I think that would be more in keeping with the simplicity of the harmony and rhythm.
Thanks for listening on my page Marv,
I think you like tunes/songs as I do.
For some reason I just can't get your tracks to run here. Maybe it's my connection speed at the moment. I'll try tomorrow.

Thanks for your kind words
We are all rookies. As 20th century composer Paul Hindemith once commented, "There is no such thing as a Master of Music."
As for hearing songs in your head as you write in your bio, I understand that's exactly the way Mozart composed. Keep at it. You have talent.
Just for your headphones I've replaced the piano with a better, louder one.
Thanks for listening

Or not. :) Advice is worth the price.
