8 minutes into symphony 1 and I really am enjoying it! nice variations and I love how the sections move from one to the next. it is engrossing.. as for the religious songs.. I am a die hard atheist but the music is top notch!!

Nope. I'm just a bit mixed up I guess. I've been checking my bible and it doesn't seem to really say what Joseph did for a living. However, my very first children's book that I ever owned that's about Jesus (called 'Jesus and The Children') begins with this opening, "Jesus liked children. One day he was working in the carpenter shop." So I guess, along with being the Messiah and the Saviour, he was also a carpenter. I guess there's a reason that I've never pursued a career in ministry! Anyway, I still love your Christmas Story song and I shall look forward to receiving a copy of it when it's ready. Thanks!

Adrian, In the biblical story as I know it, Jesus is the Mes-si-ah NOT the carpenter. Joseph, his dad, was the carpenter.

Hey Adrian,

No problem. I hope this helps to clarify anything about the trombones. Thanks again.

Do you have a CD available? I want to pass this off to my brother (with credits, of course to you), especially High Orc Mix 7. Very nice ... reminds me vaguely of music for The Deer Hunter. Love it and the movie, but don't know the composer.

Thank you for the encouragement Adrian. If you have any ear at all for my material, you probably have an affinity for dark undertones. I'm trying to listen to your selections right now, but I only have a wireless connection and if I'm not in an area which provides a broad bandwidth, I can't stream music; As soon as I'm in a good network area, I'll have a listen.

Adrian,
Oh sorry, I just noticed the 'd' missing on your name in my last post.
Fine on asking the questions in the Soundsonline forum but they are not the most helpful when something doesn't work. They usually refer you back to it being an issue on your system. My method has been to use four instances of play, one for each section but, I must say it is most stable on Cubase 4 x64 beta which I can use as my OS is Vista x64. I have 6GB of ram and have had no sample truncation problems in that mode. In 32bit it's a different story although I do think the situation has improved with the 1.6 update. I have had problems with disappearing samples using Cubase in 32bit.
Another thought... have you set the engine level to 5. If not try it.
find it at Main Menu > Streaming > Engine Level
I also noted your brass sounded very dry in comparison to the rest of the mix.
this can happen when using legato mode as it cuts of the release tails. So many choices to go wrong.
The last resort or some might say first. When happy with the individual instrument lines or sections, freeze them. All you are doing is writing them to an audio track which of course can be defrosted if you wish to change a phrase or two.

Hi Arian,
You're struggling a little with EWQLSO on your PC I think.
Brass cutting off in it's prime etc. Please say what system you use that I might help you to get the best from your play engine. Firstly I would definitely switch off stereo double which has a default setting of on. Also only load the articulation you wish to use or if you need key switching disable all but the key switch samples you wish to use..

May I be so bold as say your symphony no.1 is suffering from too many crotchets. That is, in the melody. By lengthening some of the 2nd beat notes to dotted crotchets I think it would create a more interesting lead line. Note! my poor musical vocabulary, but I hope you know what I mean.
In the 3/4 phrases perhaps in places use an early 2 beat as in a Strauss waltz. Again! just to give a little variation and dare I say expression.

Regards

Ray
