Music Composers Unite!

Hello,

I have been  composing piano music for many years using Finale notation program. I love the orchestra and wanted to compose for it, but was unsure of having scores performed and being able to hear it. I recently listened to movements of Beethoven Symphonies played by the Fauxharmonic Orchestra. They have a web site and will play scores using their advanced techniques. It is a commercial enterprise.

I have begun to try to write orchestral scores with Finale and played by Garritan Orchestra. Also I have tried doing sound on sound improvisation with M audio keyboard, Garritan and Audacity recording software. I am really enjoying the sound on sound improvisation.

I have always been wary of the electronic and virtual sounds, not wanting the orchestra to disappear. I do not think this will ever happen and hope one can contemplate the other. I think the wonder and power of a full orchestra will be very hard to duplicate on the computer. But with the current economic problems, and the always present problem of being able to support Classical Music in the World, I welcome the virtual orchestra, as an aid to composing especially.

I think the Arts have always weathered economic and political storms and will continue to do so. The Arts are essential to the Human spirit.

I have pieces of music on U tube. If anyone would like to listen, go to U tube and enter: 124gbrs in the search engine to find the channel.

Have a good day and keep composing.
