Important update: proper mix of the 1st mov. uploaded (GeneralUser 4.1 soundfonts). Check it out.
This piece, nicknamed "Mediavalia", has the movements, or parts:
1. Trial, and march of the convicted (circa 8 minutes)
2. Palliative (circa 2 minutes)
3. Hypnotic-catatonic escape, divided into
3a. Untitled (circa 5 minutes)
3b. Improvisation (undetermined duration)
3c. Finale (circa 2 minutes)
This work was premiered in Lisbon 1999 by a top grade emsemble. Unfortunately I don't have a recording, and to my knowledge it did not circulate further. Wrote the score with NoteWorthy Composer so I have a MIDI and can make artificial performances.
Funny story: I put the MIDI thru GarageBand to make an MP3 but there were no solo strings in GarageBand so I used orchestral strings. 1st movement. It was a hit on SoundClick :-) Posted it here too, and it grabbed the attention of a few people. That version is marked "strings" or such. For all movements I experimented also with other instruments (organ and guitars). I like it better that the orchestral strings. Better attack, and parts more distinct. Also at SoundClick. Then I found out how to use the General MIDI bank that has solo strings. The 1st movement with solo strings as I wrote it at SoundClick. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6586082 It was a flop there :- Then I found still better soundfonts. The 1st movement with these is now here. Maybe someday I'll use material from op.86 to make a proper orchestral version, since it seems people like that. It is not published yet (despite the opus number). I will publish all my scores eventually, probably on lulu.com (with the same opera number).
