Music Composers Unite!

I just discovered Henryk Gorecki. The Symph no 3 was playing on our local NPR station. It's amazing. Long periods of nothing but sustained notes or chords, very slow and evolving, modal. So extremely well done:

This video uses it as a score about the Holocaust, which apparently Gorecki did not want associated with this piece so much. I don't like how this video and recording make the piece more of a 'song' with the music there more to support the vocals and the voice mixed way hotter than in a non mic'ed recording. But it has good audio quality for a youtube vid.

I've never heard of Henryk Gorecki, but thanks for posting this, Chris. It's profoundly beautiful music, but I can't seem to figure out why. I'll have to look into this composer.

We had to listen to various music genres at music shool when I was younger and I remember that this one was quite interesting. Instantly got my attention. Really good stuff.
