Music Composers Unite!

I have been writing music for a few years now. I have grown confident in writing for choirs, but still feel unsure for whenever I start writing for other ensambles.Usually when I start I think of a theme and then develope it in my head. I usually don't think much of what shape it should be and stuff like that, I just evolve it as it goes. Some say it doesn't have much sense if I attempt to write more modern pieces, those who don't like that kind of music say it's worthless and in the end I feel like I haven't done much ...And then I feel like I don't belong in a music world.

What do you do when you start writing, what are your techniques, what is your boost for confidence?

Thank you all for your comments!

I totally agree with all of you!

And I know, I should just do it, but when you hear so many good stuff from other people it just makes you feel so small and then I lose all the confidence I suposedly had. So, thank you again, if I will have any furher doubts and will need feedback I will definitely ask here-feel better already, since I didn't expect any reply at all, being new here :)

Just do it. There is nothing gained by doubting whether or not your pen should touch paper. Pick any congregation of instruments and write for them. Post the results here or on Facebook or wherever, and see if you get any traction. Best -
