Symphony No. 2: Ocean Symphony (First Draft)

This is my second symphony, subtitled Ocean Symphony. This is just the first draft so there is still a lot of editing needed to be done. The movements represent a depth zone of the ocean and are as followed:

  1. Epipelagic Zone
  2. Mesopelagic Zone
  3. Bathypelagic Zone
  4. Abyssopelagic Zone

Each movement is to represent both the marine life that inhabit each zone as well as the ocean conditions unique to each zone.

Let me know what your first…

My study guide / Sample advance theory lesson in the making

In the process of studying for a final exam I decided to make a sample lesson that I would make for my online theory course, because what better way to ensure you know something than to teach it.

This is a very very rough draft of a lesson but its up for anyone to read and learn. Enjoy.

In memory post your favorite Tavener piece here.

My thesis thus far

Decided to add the first part of my thesis as of now.

Right now it focuses on two poets and their interpretations and feelings on aspects of time. THough the piece doesnt focus on time itself, time has a big part in the composition.

My choral piece is finally finished

so after a long month of writing and trying to figure out how to write out what I hear in my head I finally finished my choral piece. You will notice there is no recording. Thats because I cannot create a mock up of this piece due to the nature of the piece. Im just posting the PDF here until I can get it read.

Have we become to DAW dependent or is music notation become less relivant in our computer age?

Over the last few months I have noticed a trend in the forums, especially in the music dissection forum. More and more of the comments about music posted here have been more about music production (i.e. sample

sounds used, mix of DAWs, ect, ect) and less comments about the overall music

itself. Along with that, I have seen less actually sheet music posted on this

forum, and more composers admitting that do not have any notated music to show

what so ever.…

Just a little Experiment I did with sound

I am sitting in a room (1969) is one of composer Alvin Lucier's best known works. I attempted to recreate this work myself and this is what the result was. The results were very interesting and might be something I might try again in the future with a slight change.
