Monotone Variations (incomplete)

Nobody gives a damn but anyway. This piece is for strings and percussion, namely circa 5 violins, circa 3 violas, 1 piano and 1 jazz drumset. The piece is entirely monotonic in C major, hence the title. It starts as shown, then continues in the fugal style hinted, then the drums get in and it gets rocky, then there's a drums solo, then the piano reenters, jazzy, then it ends with the inevitable tutti. That's *my* developmental idea anyway. I also think of it as a piece for students. Score attac… Continue

Themes for the taking

All my themes are available for artistic purposes. That's the main meaning of the CC license mention up in my page. Feel free to use, arrange, produce any of my themes, principally those marked "incomplete". This network is full of professional or top grade arrangers who sometime lack good themes. Currently I don't have the time or means to arrange or produce fully. So I publish my notes in the hope someone will notice their potential. That's the meaning of the "incomplete" mark. Main reason. Se… Continue

String Quintet (incomplete)

String Quintet (2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello, 1 contrabass), or Adagio for String Quintet in F minor. The idea for this piece is to play the same theme each round an octave up, five octaves, then down again. The incomplete mix presented kicks it off with the first four rounds. The 1st is played solo by the contrabass. The 4th round is played solo by the 2nd violin. Anyone with more time than (and as much talent as:-) I please feel free to complete this piece. It's the time for group work :-) O… Continue

Jazzy thing for orchestra and percussion

This music unfolds so quickly and so clearly in mind my that it is scary. Someone (Ravel?) must be playing an orchestra in heaven and streaming it down straight to my hipothalamus via an hyperwave beam or something. I feel like a machine that only has to write it down. Unfortunately (?) I don't have much time for that. Sometimes it keeps me from sleeping so I get up a write a bit. Then naturally I get a lack of sleep for days that ruins my life, but at least a bit of the celestial music is captu… Continue

The Dream (formerly New TAL)

This 4'50 long opus is the ultimate fusion piece. It's instrumented for rock group but don't let that fool you. Open The Dream mp3 (in new window) This song incorporates ideas by Grant Starr. Namely, Grant is the main creator of the vocal melody, and the sole author of the lyrics. A certain instrumental part in the middle a… Continue

Joke

Found this by chance. It's mildly funny. "I've so much music in my head" -- Maurice Ravel, shortly before his death. " " -- John Cage Continue
