Symphony nr.1 op.7 (2009-2012)

It was October 2009 when I began working on the first movement of this symphony. The other parts were roughly sketched in the following weeks and months. Early 2010 I was able to set out the entire structure of the symphony, based on the material I had by that time. From the early days of this work, it was clear to me its layout would be unconventional, simply because the whole symphony would be composed of not less than 7 distinct movements.…

Conductor unknown

This is a recording I picked up from a  friend of mine and downloaded it onto my iTunes playlist.

I have always admired Shostakovich for his use of…

This is my first post - my 'Drone Symphony' in four movements.

Hi. I'm new here, so I'd thought I'd kick things off with my final degree composition project, 'Drone Symphony'. It comprises of four movements that use four different compositional techniques and four different instrumental groupings.

The first movement, 'Strings (1st Movement in C)' uses the serialism composition technique and uses only stringed instruments.…

Symphony Nr. 2 - 3rd Movement

Sensu Communi

An atonal piece inspired by Schoenbergs 12 tone method. For simplicity most of the piece is in 12/8th rythm.

Three solo woodwinds and lots of percussion.

Playing on the "common sense" as something vague and an idea fractured by personal/egoistic views of the matter.

In that chaotic forum of thoughts it is forgotten that the only good is what leads to the good of everyone without letting anyone suffer on the way there. A truth that cuts… Continue

Symphony Nr. 2

Conscientia

I was working on a piece not really meant for anything but itself. It started to take structure and I created a collective mass from the notes being rendered out of pure imagination.

It was an orchestral work but it didn't fit with the picture of the three finished pieces of my first symphony. Instead of being figurative, it was more about the light and darkness of the notes. It was not impressionistic because it wasn't purely texture based like Debussy's… Continue

The Leningrad Clarinet - 2nd Movement

This is on it's way up. I've composed over 6 minutes already. It's still missing an ending and the percussion section. The tempo in general is largo with some variation. I've also decided to include an organ in the latter part of the piece since it fits the mood of the movement. For this I used the PMI Barouque Organ and intergrated it with the EWQL samples using Altiverb.

The piece is practically based on simple melodies tied to more complex harmonies with some interesting rythmical… Continue
