I wrote "Gelukkig" ('happy' in Africaans) for a regional young orchestra in my city. Many of them had never played any contemporary classical music before, and it was a first for them to play something written by a person they had a chance to get to know.
I used a hybrid style of classical and jazz, to make it fun for the students.

I have just finished my second string quartet in d minor. Compared to the G major quartet posted on my page here, I think it is a big leap forward in a great many ways. It is held within the Classical style, with a first movement in sonata form, a second slow movement in ABA form and a final movement in rondo form.
