A delightful piano composition - Peacherine Rag

I started composing because of the music in the movie "The Sting" - the ragtime of Scott Joplin. His music is not only great sounding, but a fun fit fit for the fingers - physically enjoyable to play. Here's a piece which was not in The Sting, but which is a delightful example of his work - about 3 minutes long -

She is still warm

Here is my first "finished" orchestral piece.

She is warm was inspired by scenes from Shakespeare's Winter Tale.

King Leontes believes he has caused the death of his wife some sixteen years earlier.

After finally redeeming himself he is told there has been a statue made of the late queen.

The statue "magically" comes to life and at first afraid he touches its hand and exclaims "Oh, she is warm".

My first public performance!

V. Happy!

"Dear Mike,

At a recent meeting of the USO committee, I asked for a discussion about your work, "She is warm", and what the committee thought about including it on a concert program.

The committee supported the idea with enthusiasm; so I propose, with your permission, to include it on the Sunday afternoon August program next year - 2015.

Less Troubled Times

This was written for a clarinettist friend of mine whose husband was involved in a terrible car accident and will probably never get full use of his legs again.
