A nice tuba concerto

Recently I've been listening to many tuba concertos, to get an idea of the repertoire out there and what's possible on a tuba solo. Today I found this one, which, while it doesn't really feature any particularly unusual solo tricks or virtuoso stunts, is nevertheless a fun-filled romp with many beautifully scored passages:

Although changes of tempo and fermatas are included in the PDF and are part of the performance instructions they have been avoided in the XML and MP3 files as they would hinder the synchronization of sound and video (for some reason that I have not discovered yet), but they are realized in this live recording of 2002 when I had an alto voice available.

Sorry about the cello sound, I was just improvising on an old Yamaha guitar synth that was about in the studio, but then I lost it.…

A few things in the playlist!

Just uploaded a few of the rare things I've actually finished writing! I've got a lot composed but not put down on "paper" (Because what I really mean is "on the screen".)

I'll be adding more to it as more things get completed, but at the moment I've mostly got works in progress! As Stated in my "about"/"bio", I've only recently started writing music again, so it'll be a while before I have a lot of content.  In fact, two of the musics in the playlist date from years back.…

My music adventures

I am an adult returning to music. The last time that I studied music formally was at high school in 1988. That may be a record for this forum! Right now I am learning Sibelius and working through music books by Gordon Spearritt. I would like to have a go at the AMEB exams [ Australian Music Education Board]. These days the exams are offered online which is a huge improvement upon when I was at school! I am also learning FL Studio.
