President Obama makes his case for more troops in Afghanistan tomorrow night. I’ve got bad news for him; nobody will like what he has to say. The Republicans won’t like the fact that he took two months to decide. That’s not being a decider, it’s not decisive to take that two months to do the manly thing. In fact it’s positively French to take two months to do a manly thing. We Americans want our Presidents manly (and definitely not French). The Republicans have the monopoly on all things… Continue

The Current State of Play
I think the first thing to mention here is that my situation with regards to woodwind is different from where it was when I wrote the last article.
Firstly, I now have access to a live woodwind player of amazing capability. She's… Continue

I'm currently wrapping up the document for a pre-study in dynamic emotions in music...
The study is very interesting, like there has been several (at least two) attempts at creating a music engine with the purpose of modifying music scores in realtime. After browsing through some of the current (and past) studies in the field of emotions in music I finally sattled down with the latest thesis from Steven.R.Livingstone (Changing musical emotion 2005) which is very fascinating indeed. The… Continue

If you are like me, music for kids generally makes you want to stick your head in the oven. Asinine lyrics, annoying tunes, awful production, and for some reason your kids can't get enough. Well friends, the day has come -- someone has FINALLY made music that kids love and adults will secretly listen to while the kids aren't around. Coal Train Railroad
, by Katy Bowser and Chris Donohue is silly, fun, beautiful, catchy,… Continue

Well, it's dreary, wet, and I'm seriously considering Hibernation at the moment. Somehow I don't think they'll let me try that one though.
Anyway, added a couple of tracks to fill the space out a bit more. These are both from the same project as 'Heavier Metal' was - me trying (and failing) to pull together a game on my own. They're MIDI based tracks - the mp3's are direct renders from the MSGS softsynth built into most windows editions. As most people these days use onboard sound… Continue

I've uploaded 2 cues from the film i'm scoring called 'KERBEROS'
One made it in. The other, 'DARIUS BREAKS' didn't as it just gave the scene another vibe altogether.
