Music Composers Unite!
Beethoven's symphonies are propably of the most performed. Given this range of recordings it would seem easy to find the ONE, that with which you agree the most, which you believe has captured the essense of the piece as much as possible. Yet, it is trully hard. Don't get me wrong, there are wonderfull performances out there. But Gardiner and his Revolutionary orchestra just struck me from the very first moment.
I was listening to the web radio of a USA station and I hear "and next…

Is anyone familiar with Soniccouture? It's the sample library company that experiments with instruments, releaseing such sets as a bowed piano, gamelans and-a choir made from the voices from people around the world?!
Actually, that's what i wanted to talk about. According to the website:
"The 'Crowd-choir' was an idea for a crowd-sourced sampled instrument, partly inspired by the 10cc track 'I'm not in love', which famously featured a vocal pad sound created by…

I want to show you my new song. I called it the Queen. Is a medieval inspired song. I wanted to make it a little sacral and folkish. I am aware that the reverb might be to much, as lyrics might be difficult to hear.. But I hope you like it anyway :)

Just uploaded a few of my strictly "tonal" pieces at request of friends here. However I reserve the right to use any idiom that suits the need and situation!

Decided to add the first part of my thesis as of now.
Right now it focuses on two poets and their interpretations and feelings on aspects of time. THough the piece doesnt focus on time itself, time has a big part in the composition.

Here is a copy of what l think is a very relevent speech made by frank zappa in 1984 to the American society of university composers, happy reading .
I am occasionally asked to attend forums and symposia on musical matters. I am usually 'booked in as a novelty act', or 'token eccentric' to liven things up for 'the serious people'.
This event is no exception. I do not belong to your organization. I know nothing about it. I am not even interested in it, and yet, a…

I wonder. The 20th century, particular the latter half of the 20th century, seems to have exploded the idea of each era being defined by a "movement," such as Baroque, Romantic, Impressionism. Even once-far-out ideas like atonalism, chance-music, minimalism and other "reject-what-has-come-before" movements seem dated. I personally think that many composers who in the past would have been "court" composers now work in TV and movies and that their music is shaped by the demands of those…

While experimenting with this style, i've been listening to a lot of it, but one really struck me:

There's too many parts to put on here, but just tell me what you think of this.

There are some recordings that amaze me.
Usually I would not choose a Rubinstein performance for a Beethoven piece-don't get me wrong, I love Rubinstein. When he plays Chopin. He has that "over-romantic" touch and aesthetic that I think does not fit to Beethoven.
But this recording is a whole other story.
