I kinda missed the first part of this thread, but I just want to say I liked the track. I think it would sound good through some real guitars. The melody would sound nice on a bass.

Thank you for all your input. I think I might need some brain enhancment though. I get too anxious to make it all the way through my tutorials. Thanks again for your advise.

Per the machine gun effect, with certain VIs, it can't be avoided. If what you have has a box you can tick in preferences or somewhere in the interface that deals with it, do so. (In general terms what a developer uses to obviate this is called Roun…

Thanks Ray, I got Sonar Home Studio 7 and don't know how to use it yet. Soft Synths are new to me and I'm probably trying to go too fast - driving in the dark. I will take a good hard look at that phrasing - again thanks.

I tried running my midi through soft synths. Any feedback would be great.

I agree with much of what Spyrus said. The vocals need to be more present with all the accompaniment surrounding, backing, and highlighting the lyrics. I like the song. Don't fall into the trap of hiding your voice inside the music. Let it be in the…

Thanks for posting this, Rob. I really liked this a lot - well thought out and executed.

But in itself it has a sort of old, haunting appeal - so I wouldn't reject it for that reason alone. If say that that the sound is intentional, then it's justified. I'm just saying that it might strike some people as being dated.

About Me:
Truth be told, I'm not really much of a musician. I hear songs in my head and I like to write it down using the staff mode in cakewalk. I haven't a clue what to do with it now. None of my songs are well produced. I would be honored if someone out there liked my music enough to collaborate with me. I would rather be a part of something great than all of something mediocre.

lyrics

Most of the songs I have posted here have lyrics. I haven't figured out how to associate them with the songs here yet. Some of the lyrics are so-so while some, like "Northern Lights", are half the song. On my soundclick music page, lyrics are posted with the songs under full song info.

No such thing

I've been listening to as many compositions as I can - this way I associate members with a "theme song" when I see their picture. In hearing the diversity of music - and realizing the environment each piece is suited to, I've come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as "bad" music - only music I don't understand.

Hi Marv,
I listened to your songs.
I must say they all are so "honest"sounding,so very clear expressing the emotions...So much can be discovered about you from listening...
I can feel the stories and the emotions of each song.
Nice compositions!Keep it up!

"no such thing as bad music"... i love your honesty. there is a lot of music i don't understand, but more and more i have a growing appreciation for such. the perceptual differences between a muscian and the end-user (if you will) bend on hearing the song as it is, and being able to hear a song for what it could be, as we discussed before. i have "bad" copies of "good" songs that noone understands (so i assume), but i find there is a draw to the mystery itself (of not understanding) and so i push into the bizzar.

Hey! Marv,
You've made my day, noticing the difference in my re-mastered Strange Theory.
Now "Storm Warning" is my favourite here. All you need is some collaboration that will allow re-recording the instruments to a higher standard and give it some pro gloss. What you are doing with the tools you have is great.

Hi Marv, thanks for taking to time to listen and leaving a comment. Appreciated. I'm currently out and about mobile so cannot access the Flash music player to listen to your songs. Will do so at the earliest opportunity though. Thanks again.

Thanks for the comment on my page. I've listened to a few of your tracks now and they come across as being very sincere, which isn't always easy to achieve.

Hi Marv,
Thank you for that wonderful compliment. I really enjoyed your music. Especially Northern Lights. It has somewhat of a Native American undertone. Your songs remind me of the 70's group Little River Band. That was a great decade for music. Keep up the great work.
