Dorico users?

Would anybody using Dorico care to comment about how it stacks up to other notation software?  I'd be interested in knowing what you think about a few things:- Does it allow you to compose more…Continue

For composers who notate their music, what is your workflow?   Since notation can be a painstaking process (especially for pieces involving multiple instruments), I'm trying to figure out the most…Continue

"Hi I've owned Dorico almost from the day it was first released but I only started using it as my primary notation tool about 6 months ago. The reason was (as most Dorico uers would probably agree) that it wasn't really close to being a…"

"Hmm, the forum is ending really?   A little presumptuous to cop this forum's name when creating a new one.  Doesn't show much respect for the owner of this forum."

MIDI mockup DAW tips?

What are your tips/tricks for making realistic MIDI orchestration mockups in a DAW?  Aside from having good samples, I'd be interested in hearing about how others use CC's, templates, and humanize/partial quanitize features to make MIDI playback more musical/flowing and less rigid. See More

"After listening to the notation vs daw mp3's, the difference between them isn't so much about daw being better than notation software.  You can use high quality samples with notation software as well as sound sets to achieve much…"

"One thing I find annoying with DAW's is working with that piano roll/midi representation of music.  Most musicians/composers learn music notation when learning an instrument, not piano rolls.  I want to view my music as notation, not…"

Dorico users?

Would anybody using Dorico care to comment about how it stacks up to other notation software?  I'd be interested in knowing what you think about a few things:- Does it allow you to compose more freely than with Sibelius (e.g. without barlines/time sigs)- Is it faster for editing (I've heard about Insert mode)- Does it allow for more control of Playback via Midi editing (like a DAW does)See More
