Welcome ...

to my little page on the composer's forum.

about me:

Alex was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany in 1975. At the age of twelve he showed great interest in rock and guitar music, spent lots of time by watching MTV’s “Headbanger’s Ball” and finally, at the age of 14, decided to buy his own electric guitar.

After five years of private lessons, Alex met his first band, which had by far more poser photo albums done over the time, than gigs or even songs :)

A few years and bands later in 1997, he decided to take one more year of private guitar lesson and prepared himself to study at the Los Angeles Music Academy.
This was by far the most intensive time in terms of music and it was such a pleasure to have had teachers such as Frank Gambale, Bill Fowler, Jeff Richman, Joy Basu, Linda Taylor, Jean-Marc Belkadi and many more …

Alex graduated in September of 1998, came back to Germany and worked as a private guitar teacher for around two years.

Besides teaching he became the lead guitarist in the rock/pop band “Reinvented”. After winning several music and band contests, the band got signed with the record label BMG, recorded and released one album and several singles and toured all over Germany with bands such as Reamonn, Guano Apes, H-Blockx, Glow, LAW and many others …

During that time, especially during the recording sessions with the band, Alex was swallowed away by computers, sequencers, plugins and VSTi’s … so which first was the little home studio to record and work on upcoming “Reinvented” songs in Alex’s basement, should later on become his project studio “The CellarRoom”, where he started to work as a composer and sound designer for video games.

Since Alex was nine years old he was into computer games and so he decided to mix up the “seriousness” of work together with his hobby and the interest in music. The result was a composer and sound designer for video games.
Let your hobby become your job is probably the best thing which can happen.

“Reinvented” split up in 2003, Alex moved to Munich and already worked on quite a few little game and multimedia projects. Finally, in 2005 Alex joined Dynamedion, Germany’s leading sound design company for video games.
In late 2005, Alex moved to Hamburg, Germany … and until today he has been working on award winning video games, movie and game trailers, sample library demos and lots of other multimedia projects.

tiny little tutorial on "Herophobia"

Since I had quite a few requests concerning the MIDI files of the Stormdrum 2 samples I used on "Herophobia", I did a little movie which shows the session while playing, focused on the SD2 parts of the demo.

You can either watch the small YouTube version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeJ5hTQCKKg

... or check out the same video with higher resolution and overall better quality:… Continue

- Nick Batzdorf, the owner of VI magazine and Frederick Russ, owner of the VI Control Forum, have been so kind to feature my humble self in the recent issue of VI magazine. Thanks to y… Continue

alexpfeffer.net is online!

Just wanted to spread the message, that I put my new "blogsite" online.
It is neither a pure blog nor a pure website, so just check it out at www.alexpfeffer.net

I definitely don't want to keep people away from the Composer's forum, but I think it's worth checking out once in a while, because I will have a lot of media to check out and also a few written posts about vsti's, plugs and general music & computer related stuff which might be o… Continue

Hi Alex!

I came across Herophobia on the EW sample site and thought it was amazing, checked your site and it led me to this cool comunity :)

If you could check out my songs it would be really cool. Unfortunately mp3 sound isn´t so good but if you could see the youtube video in HD of one of my unfinished songs i would really apreciate it.

Here it is:

Wow...My Godness!
When Herophohia began, I think it's Carmina Buraria.
Ha...I was deeply moved.
Your style is very similar with Hanz Zimmer.

Hello Alex,
Truly great and very good composer, fantastic writing and orchestration.
Can you please tell me about your second track and about the person who sings the Arabic style in that track?
Best regards,
Ahmad

Wow, you got some really powerful music up here. I really dig that rock/orchestral passage in Herophobia, really impressive! Your name tells me something, but I can't think of anything right now. Have you ever scored any major projects?

Sorry for my curiosity, impressive music! =)
