Timothy Smith replied to Gav Brown's discussion Proposed Contest - “Dancing”
"I'm in only I have question- Can you be more specific on exactly what you would expect? This could be anything from DJ dance music to a cultural experience from long ago I guess? I  wrote a medieval dance tune several years ago. Is modern…"

Timothy Smith replied to Keno Kallinger's discussion A Tale of Krampus and Saint Nicholas
"You are most welcome Keno.We all have opinions. Music is subjective, so please take this all with a grain of salt. I to be as objective and supportive as I can be. I liked what you've done here!"

Timothy Smith replied to William Maxwell's discussion The Carousel- tune from a new member
"This is really good! Whenever I first begin to listen to anything with strings in it I always wonder if it's another kid playing with string pads for the first time. Nothing more boring than a long string pad with no direction. This is not…"

Timothy Smith replied to Saul Gefen's discussion Three Ancient Jewish Melodies
"Saul these are excellent! I know you are proud of your heritage and have good reason to be. Are these actual Jewish tunes? The reason I ask is they seem to have a very western feel to them and I ( maybe mistakenly) expect a more middle eastern…"

Timothy Smith replied to Keno Kallinger's discussion A Tale of Krampus and Saint Nicholas
"Excellent mix in the DAW. Great choice of art work for this. This would work well in a movie where there is increasing intensity in the scene. As stand alone music I thought the theme was too repetitive though I liked the buildup over the course of…"

Timothy Smith replied to Rick's discussion Meaning of Love
"I really liked this one. Adding the string section will always make the music seem less intimate to me when added to guitar. Instead of one or two musicians conveying there are now a whole group. This is something that is probably just a quirk of…"

Timothy Smith replied to Matt's discussion “Hand in Hand at the Edge of the Sky” for chamber ensemble (2014), by Matthew Brown
"Nice to meet you here Matthew. I can tell from reading the description that this music was or still is very close to you. I hope you have either moved past missing the woman or have found a way to constructively deal with such a tragic loss. Some…"

Timothy Smith replied to Geert ter Horst's discussion Diatonic Symmetries II
" It is amazing to me how every mind works just a little differently.  My approaches to music are almost always from an emotional perspective first or an attempted conveyance of a feeling. Your approaches are almost entirely theoretical…"

Timothy Smith replied to Luke Stephen Gray's discussion Which DAW is best for MIDI composers?
" Older post I know, but I'm going to take a stab at an answer. People are very opinionated about which DAW they think is best for any given task. Most of them will do a little bit of everything. My "research" has mostly been…"

I have been involved in music for most of my life. I would consider myself a hobbyist composer. I play guitar, piano, bouzouki, harmonica, and am an aspiring violinist. I am a worship leader/pianist at my local church. My website online mainly deals with different themes and instruments.
