This began as a piano composition. I later used the piano midi as my guide in making this. Then I added more parts to it. Basically develops as a basic theme which I attempted to construct around. I…Continue

Only One Life-Organ, flute and string section

Started this discussion. Last reply by Dane Aubrun Jun 5. 5 Replies

This is a composition I made based loosely on some of the techniques Bach used. No it isn't Bach, doesn't sound like Bach, but it uses the organ as a basis which he liked to do. He usually began with…Continue

"love the name! The volume of the guitar seems to be competing with the flute/wind instrument a bit though"

"This is a very well done piece.Sadly music like this often tends to get lost behind a movie theme or heard so often that people tend to tune it out as the fill for a movie. IOW they don't REALLY listen to it. What jumped out at me as something…"

"Thank you Neil! You have a good ear. I mixed this one on my old favorite DAW Cakewalk. My process is usually to lay down a foundation track...in this case guitars recorded to a pair of LDC mics. I have since started using SDC mics for acoustic…"

"Hi Timothy. I just love the warm, bright sound that you've achieved with this. It evokes thoughts of the countryside very well. I feel that the timing of the guitar is a little shaky at times and could do with a bit more attention. I also…"

"Thank you Gav. I certainly see your point here concerning the melody. I kind of felt similar in that I felt it was missing something. Has a predictable way about it that seems to work best as a background track as it is. Not enough focus if that…"

"Hi Timothy,  I had two reactions when I listened: this is perfectly fine and stands as is. The recording is polished and professional and the piece has a country/folk vibe that works quite well. My second rection: it has the feel of being a…"

Composition- Twilight Breeze

I have been trying to up my game some by combining video or pics I take to my original music, that is, when I have the time to do it. I took these pictures of my local area in Lancaster County, PA a few weeks back. Originally I tried to make a brand new composition and realized I lacked the time to get it all together in time, so I used a newish composition of mine that fits the video well. The compo I was working on still sits on my hard drive with a few guitar tracks partially mixed. I came…See More

"Well, I quite enjoyed it. It's one grand blast!  But I echo the comments of others. I noticed at around 16 secs you landed a pedal in the left hand, the D, with a lot going on in the right hand that was drowned out. Also couldn't…"

"Hi Timothy - I enjoyed this, it is an interesting approach to a familiar style and a great sound.  Steve has made some good points about balance and I'm interested to see if you can change that.  If you have made a midi recording of…"

I have been involved in music for most of my life. I would consider myself a hobbyist composer. I play guitar, piano, bouzouki, harmonica, and am an aspiring violinist. I am a worship leader/pianist at my local church. My website online mainly deals with different themes and instruments.
