Ingo Lee replied to Timothy Smith's discussion Tongues Of Angels
"You have beautiful sounds and a great blend here Tim. It has an ambient somewhat stationary feel that is pleasant to listen to. You get some development with entrances and exits of some of the instruments but I understand that is not your goal here.…"

Kjell Prytz replied to Timothy Smith's discussion Tongues Of Angels
"Hi Tim, you found a nice sound picture here with a very appealing mood. It sent me to a different place, relaxing and contemplative. The instruments work nicely together, I am particularly found of the combination violin and guitar which you manage…"

Dane Aubrun replied to Timothy Smith's discussion Tongues Of Angels
"Hi again, Timothy, A very likeable piece. Minimalist style, superb production, nice scoring. I particularly liked what seemed like the entry of the flute, maybe with the celeste more prominent?  at around one minute in and the way it departed…"

"Hi Timothy. Very pleasant vibe, here - buoyant and lifting. A nice tapestry of timbres. After a bit, I too was looking for a variant of some sort. Maybe a contrasting chord shift, or to have the melodic movement become a bit more dramatic? Thanks…"

Timothy Smith replied to Timothy Smith's discussion Tongues Of Angels
" Good Morning Gerd, Thank you for listening.  The violin is sampled Taylor Davis violin.  I usually use that violin for a more folk sound.  I think you hit on one of my main issues in composing. My ideas do not add much variety.…"

Gerd Prengel replied to Timothy Smith's discussion Tongues Of Angels
"Dear Timothy, I like your violin and flute playing together so well. How did you create that natural violin sound? Is it a real violin? Beatiful! The accompaniement, however, seems to be a bit too repetitive to me, could try to bring in there some…"

Timothy Smith replied to Saul Gefen's discussion Fantasia for Solo Piano - Explanation/Score
"Nice work on this! You have done quite a bit with this basic melody. The harpsichord would make for a very period sound. I have been tempted to compose like this. Seems a very structured way to do it as opposed to playing in parts. That way you can…"

Timothy Smith replied to Dane Aubrun's discussion "Symphonic" movement (modal) 4'50"
"I did hear some resemblance to Mennin since his style seemed to be built on  rhythmic movement  with a sort of tonal ambiguity. Not a bad thing at all. I liked the way you put this together! Should go well with the rest.  Thanks for…"

I have been involved in music for most of my life. I would consider myself a hobbyist composer. I play guitar, piano, bouzouki, harmonica, and am an aspiring violinist. I am a worship leader/pianist at my local church. My website online mainly deals with different themes and instruments.

Hi Tim, I looked at CF briefly this morning and I believe I saw a post from you talking about being affected by the pandemic situation and the particular difficulty it has for us as musicians. This is good to talk about since many of us have similar feelings I'm sure.
