"I have tried to listen to today's version of Prog and so far it leaves me cold - think Spock's Beard. Just loud and fast and hard to follow, even for a long-time aficionado, and not much memorable about it."

"I'm thinking in terms of Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, etc.  They created more what I would call "pieces" than songs.  Almost a classical approach to composition but in a rock style."

"Hi Steven B and Steve C - I'm not really a fan of progressive rock but here are a couple of examples of bands that are very popular today. https://youtu.be/8Ik9qECIWgc https://youtu.be/EX3HUEy2ZeE"

About Me (Must include at least one paragraph of biographical information about you as a composer) - blank or minimal answers on this line will cause your request to be rejected. Include a link to your website if you have one.
I am trained both musically and theologically so my songs tend to have a religious flavor. Before serving as a Pastor for 20 years now, I worked in the recording industry, writing, arranging, orchestrating, conducting and producing commercial advertising music. My work displays a diversity of musical styles. My musical influences include Bob Hartman and Petra, Nancy Honeytree, Bryan Duncan and Sweet Comfort Band, Bob Carlisle and Allies, PFR, Ron Dante, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Three Dog Night, 10cc and Queen.

CUP O'JOY

Posted on October 1, 2008 at 5:34pm 0 Comments

Okay, so I get a message from John Schlitt's booking agent. Her name is Sue Demister, and she is with Nova productions out of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She has listened to some of my music and likes it a lot. We talked on the phone for a little bit, and she directed me to the Cup o'Joy coffee house in Green Bay. I contacted them and will be singing there this Friday night for one of their open mic nights. Way cool!

Then I get an…

Last Tuesday was my first ever public performance. It took place during the National Night Out hosted by my church - Trinity Lutheran Church, Menasha, Wisconsin.

I was scheduled to perform between the hours of 4:30 - 8:00 pm, so I set up a schedule to sing three songs each half hour. This amounted to about two hours of singing in all.

To begin with, I sang the album in order, three songs at a time. It's amazing how much…
