Hi all.I am Catholic and I have written a poem about the wanton destruction of human life in the world. It is important to me to work with someone who has strong Catholic, or Christian values and supports the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.I have a melody and a song in progress, but I need help. I would like to work privately with someone to produce it. I can sing it, but if you are a trained singer that would be better. I am using Studio one5 but I can export it to any…See More

"I am glad I raised the issue as it has brought out useful discussion. It also seems to me most would agree that voting for your own piece is somewhat self congratulatory. I have narrowed it down to 4 pieces and since I won't vote for my own…"

Stanley King replied to Gav Brown's discussion "DANCING" CONTEST - VOTE HERE
"Yes of course! I am not sure if I will vote for my own piece yet. I was just asking if voting 1, 2, or 3 for you won work was considered poor form."

Stanley King replied to Markus Boyd's discussion Sonata in B Flat for Keyboard
"A very Lovely gentle piece Markus. I always feel like a hypocrite when I make suggestions because I am a rank amateur. There are two places where the left hand felt too repetitive to me so when I looked at your score I can see that from 9-12 and…"

Stanley King replied to Stanley King's discussion Nebula
"Thanks Colin. It is, at this stage, not leading anywhere it is just my ideas about a nebula.  Give me about a billion years and I may be able to bring it to an end.  :D Seriously though, thanks for the direction on direction."

Colin Dougall replied to Stanley King's discussion Nebula
"Hi Stanley Sounds very nice indeed. This piece is actually well-named since its a bit nebulous in the sense that its hard to grasp where its leading us. They do say that it's the journey, not the getting there that counts. But it would be nice…"

"Thanks Michael. Your comments are most helpful. I am curious as to which piece you felt was an exercise. If you are thinking of Light and Airy you are spot on the money."

Stanley King replied to Stanley King's discussion Nebula
"Thanks Graeme for your very positive comments. I think it would be a good discipline for me to try and build this in to a piece without a huge climax as that is often what  I tend to do. I also think if I keep the strings playing those bars and…"

Stanley King replied to Stanley King's discussion Nebula
"Thanks Keith. I notice that most of my pieces tend to build to a climax at the end. I am not sure yet what  I will do with this piece, but if I build a climax it would have to be for some cosmic event."

Stanley King replied to Stanley King's discussion Nebula
"Thanks Kjell The idea is to paint a picture of space. I tried to keep it thin and spacious and ponderous. I even thought of calling it nebulous. I see what you were thinking about in Smetana's Moldau piece especially the second movement/theme.…"

OK I have always had a desire to write something as grand as Beethoven's 3rd symphony. I messed about trying to play the clarinet, trumpet, guitar and piano. Failed at all. I have written songs / hymns for Church. I sang in the ad hoc choir in a production of Turandot in my youth. I tried composing back in the days of windows 95 but gave up. Now that I am retired I am trying to put some serious effort into composing, but I have no formal training, just a desire to write classical music. I have taken some cheap on line music courses and can read music but not fluently. I am joining this group to be more driven and involved.
