News from The Harp Legacy Project

To all the members of the Composers' Forum,      For those of you who have not previously been acquainted with The Harp Legacy Project, it came into existence after years of encountering numerous harp scores that were either awkwardly written or even unplayable. The Project was initiated in order to assist composers in the creation of idiomatic notation for the harp. The edited scores will be donated to the Sousa Archives where my life and works are being preserved. Hard copies of scores and…See More

About Me (MUST be more than 10 words to be approved):
I am currently being archived at the Sousa Archives, University of Illinois under the name Shirley Meyer Blankenship. At this time, I wish to contribute my skills as a harpist and composer to the creation of new harp music-either solo, ensemble or symphonic parts. I am also a violinist and pianist. In 2010, I completed the recording of 100 piano pieces in a collection by composer Robert Martin entitled: Mt. Fuji. In 2008, I recorded The Owl and the Pussycat for flute and harp, also by Martin, at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. This recording is included in an album entitled: Metamorphosis.

I am currently working on a Harp Legacy Project.  As part of this process, I'm connecting with interested composers who wish to particiapte.
