So, I'm new here, so I figured I'd share what I'm working on at the moment.  It is nowhere near done.  It is a piece of music based on the events of the life of King Arthur and the knights of the…Continue

"Man, this thread is huge, I'm not reading it all.   Also, I might be making myself out to be an idiot here, but I'm pretty sure the Rothschilds did not say that.   You really don't need TV in today's internet age.…"

"I did the thing where you listen to two of the same video at the same time.  I like canons.   In all seriousness, have you considered adding some kind of harmony?   Also, your text is in the quote boxes, which is confusing to me.…"

"I like it.  I probably would like it more if it didn't end abruptly, but I'll probably have to see the film to hear the whole score.   What I perceive the music to be about is the aftermath of the hit man going up to his handler,…"

Bob Porter replied to Ryan Hofmann's discussion March
"I think at this point, you should consider adding percussion, and lots of it. One of my favorite things about playing in a concert band was all the percussion. Your intent for this piece will determine what percussion. If it is a field piece, than…"

"I'm having a hard time hearing this as a march, to be quite honest.  Marches usually have a strong rhythm to them (you know, so that people can follow the beat and march according to it), but this piece doesn't seem to have a strong…"

March

This is my march for marching band.  It is not completed.  It is not arranged.  I'm posting it here because I want to know what people think of it so far.  If I do update this thread, there will be an annotated PDF to go along with the regular mp3 and PDF, that way you know why I did what I did, and what I like and do not like with it. My plans for this are to extend the length of this to 8-10 minutes.  I have plans for different sections.  It is also likely that I will move parts around.  That…See More

My Second Big Piece

So, I'm new here, so I figured I'd share what I'm working on at the moment.  It is nowhere near done.  It is a piece of music based on the events of the life of King Arthur and the knights of the round table.  The way I originally planned it, I was going to have each character have a leitmotif.  Each character would get their intro, and so on and so forth.  This isn't what I did, however, and I might drop it and make it pure music.  I can and probably will go through and at least label all of…See More

About Me (Must include biographical information about you as a composer):
So, I've played brass for some eight years. I started composing sometime during that, and now I consider myself decent. I took a music theory class, although I don't really use the information often. I've been composing a before that, and I have my own methods.

I've learned a lot in my ~3 or 4 years of experimenting. (Probably actually less than 2).

I produce mostly tonal music. My music is not, and never will be serious. I take it as a hobby. I have about 112 pieces of music that I made sitting in my documents folder. Most of these are unfinished, and last 10-30 seconds.

I am here at this site to get criticism from actual musicians, because most of my friends are not, and almost all of my music friends are in college.
