I've been working on my own "modern" version of medieval music, possible for a video game or a short film.  This is a recent instrumental I composed featuring the recorder, piccolo flute, nylon…Continue

I composed this song for a fantasy story (I haven't written yet).  My thinking is the heroes have just suffered a devastating loss (maybe a major town was destroyed), and they realize they need more…Continue

"Definitely has that medieval vibe in it. It does sound lively and fun! I guess as a demo the lack of the feeling of space ( no reverb) coupled with the extra tight rhythm would be ok. This is only my opinion, I would probably "humanize"…"

"Hi Ronald Lovely piece, for sure. Unfortunately the chord accompaniment is a bit dull and the harmony is not always adequate. The recording seems pretty much OK and the flutes are brilliant, as well as their interweaving play. Maybe the percussion…"

"If you were interested on a slightly modern take, can I assume you're familiar with the Mediaeval Baebes? Mostly traditional but they blend with more modern styles occasionally. For anyone interested: https://youtu.be/t0v7nv2s3tQ"

We need more Help for this Serious Journey

I composed this song for a fantasy story (I haven't written yet).  My thinking is the heroes have just suffered a devastating loss (maybe a major town was destroyed), and they realize they need more help to face the enemy.  So the song is about reflection.  Thoughts and comments are welcomed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIh2TLS9mEUSee More

Ducks and Dragons OST (and story)

Just finished this video.  Again, it's a series of songs I wrote, and strung together by writing a story.  I am heavily influenced by Japanese composers particularly in the RPG video game industry.  So you might hear that in my work.  Even if you don't take time to read the story, feedback is appreciated.  No I don't have images for this yet, but hopefully I can provide that in the future.  Enjoy!- Ronald J. My first Original Soundtrack for a Short Children's Film

Hello,I thought I'd try something different and write a story for children to some of the music I've composed.  I don't really know how things work in the industry, whether you write the story first and then compose the music (which I assume) but I did the reverse.  Anyway, the story is 33 minutes long and contains 27 sections each with original music I've composed.  Some of the songs I've posted here already, but most of the songs I have not.  I've always wanted to write a soundtrack to a…See More

My name is Ronald Fontenot and I am a composer, artist, author and illustrator. I began my music journey by composing children's melodies. This grew to composing children's songs and now I am composing songs intended for video games and animated short films. I have not done anything professional as of yet, but I would like to. I am a recent graduate of Colorado State University with a BFA in electronic art. I enjoy writing my own music to videos I have made for children. My channels on youtube include Kids Vids SCJ, YTKidsVIds and MusicSCJ. SCJ stands for Scott C. Johnson which is my pen name as an author and an artist. You can just call me Ronald though:)
