I composed this song for a fantasy story (I haven't written yet).  My thinking is the heroes have just suffered a devastating loss (maybe a major town was destroyed), and they realize they need more…Continue

"Nice but short piece. I think you hit the intended mood brilliantly. I can see the scene in front of me. It will fit perfectly to the movie scene. Cheers, Kjell"

We need more Help for this Serious Journey

I composed this song for a fantasy story (I haven't written yet).  My thinking is the heroes have just suffered a devastating loss (maybe a major town was destroyed), and they realize they need more help to face the enemy.  So the song is about reflection.  Thoughts and comments are welcomed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIh2TLS9mEUSee More

Ducks and Dragons OST (and story)

Just finished this video.  Again, it's a series of songs I wrote, and strung together by writing a story.  I am heavily influenced by Japanese composers particularly in the RPG video game industry.  So you might hear that in my work.  Even if you don't take time to read the story, feedback is appreciated.  No I don't have images for this yet, but hopefully I can provide that in the future.  Enjoy!- Ronald J. "Hi Gav, Thanks for viewing my video and for your feedback.  I was hoping with my story and music that kids would exercise their own imagination for the images.  Today, kids are bombarded with images all the time, but how often do they…"

"Hi Ronald, I listened to the first five minutes and then jumped ahead and spot-checked at various places. You've certainly got the genre aimed well, it sounds like music for little kids to me. Normally I don't comment on a visual that is…"

My first Original Soundtrack for a Short Children's Film

Hello,I thought I'd try something different and write a story for children to some of the music I've composed.  I don't really know how things work in the industry, whether you write the story first and then compose the music (which I assume) but I did the reverse.  Anyway, the story is 33 minutes long and contains 27 sections each with original music I've composed.  Some of the songs I've posted here already, but most of the songs I have not.  I've always wanted to write a soundtrack to a…See More

"I do not know if I am in the position to say it 'improved' but making it slower helped.  Why do you insist on using the same tempo all through the piece?  slow, a bit faster and even more faster could make it run to its end. We…"

"Hi, To me your ostinato theme sounded a bit short.  This causes the too much repetition feeling.  Your middle section comes very good. It would be a good idea to put a number of middle sections and hence increase the beautiful feeling of…"

My name is Ronald Fontenot and I am a composer, artist, author and illustrator. I began my music journey by composing children's melodies. This grew to composing children's songs and now I am composing songs intended for video games and animated short films. I have not done anything professional as of yet, but I would like to. I am a recent graduate of Colorado State University with a BFA in electronic art. I enjoy writing my own music to videos I have made for children. My channels on youtube include Kids Vids SCJ, YTKidsVIds and MusicSCJ. SCJ stands for Scott C. Johnson which is my pen name as an author and an artist. You can just call me Ronald though:)
