Keith J Hampton replied to Robert Fisher's discussion Umbra
"Nice work!  Deceptively simply melody which gives way to a more layered build. I like the addition of the vocal tracks toward the end (were those real humans?) and thought it helped bring the piece into more emotive territory than just…"

Hello everyone,Wanted to share my most recent track and final piece of my album. With this I was going for a strong but intimate atmospheric feel. Hopefully I pulled it off. I had a surprisingly tricky time with the mix so if you have any suggestions for that I'd be especially interested to hear it. Thanks in advance!Umbra-RobertSee More

Robert Fisher replied to Leber's discussion Nocturne - G minor - Tractu Temporis - in progress
"Laszlo, I can certainly hear the Chopin influence in this though it is not enough to sound like you were trying to imitate him. It felt far more like a waltz than a nocturne to me, not only because of the 3/4 meter and left hand pattern but the…"

Robert Fisher replied to Keith J Hampton's discussion "Garden Seduction" - short, modern classical piece for piano.
"Keith, What jumped out at me right away was the recording/mixing/mastering side of things. The opening is extremely quiet and so with that I don't think the fade in accomplishes what you had hoped for. I think your music deserves devoting some…"

Robert Fisher replied to Olivér Kovács's discussion Dystopia
"Oliver, I would echo what Keith said especially regarding the bass. I felt like it just kept begging out to me to drop and get that full low end that would really expand the dynamic range of the track. Overall though I like the feel and could see it…"

Alan MacRae replied to Robert Fisher's discussion Bonn - A Beethoven Arrangement
"Nice work, and an enjoyable listen. I see what John meant by the Michael Nyman reference, while it opens with the same rhythmic pattern at Beethoven 7, movt 2 (which I find very effective here) it develops into something very like Nyman's score…"

"Hi Robert-- Vert beautiful, reflective, touching music...written straight from the heart, that speaks to others, in kind and caressing, comforting words.. I enjoyed this very much and thanks so much for sharing! Thanks Bob…"

Robert Fisher replied to Dave Dexter's discussion Adding my orchestral score to "The Dark Knight Rises"
"You know what you're doing musically and on the production side of things for sure though it just wasn't working for me stylistically with this film. It could be tainted by my familiarity with the original Zimmer score though which I…"

Robert Fisher replied to Robert Fisher's discussion Bonn - A Beethoven Arrangement
"Thanks John. I agree on the Beethoven point and I'm even hesitant to call it an arrangement. More like "composed with those pieces in mind" I suppose, whatever that might be called. I've actually not seen that film nor heard the…"

John Driscoll replied to Robert Fisher's discussion Bonn - A Beethoven Arrangement
"This was nice, but I didn't get much of Beethoven from it.  Stylistically it reminded me a bit of Michael Nyman, specifically his score for the film, The Piano--do you know his work?"

Bonn - A Beethoven Arrangement

Before I get too far I feel like I need to address the elephant in the room for anyone that might be familiar with what happened in my last discussion post.. I had initially decided to leave the forum though later reflection and discussion with members and administrators brought me to the realization of the value of this community. I want to be very clear that I greatly appreciate all comments, both negative and positive, and know that I have much to learn from everyone here. All I ask is that…See More

David Lilly replied to Robert Fisher's discussion Presence - Piano/Electronics
"A simple idea, presented in a simple way as it should be, in my opinion. I enjoyed the listen.  Personally, I would have preferred just the track as piano. Or, taken the ambient noises and presented them as a very dull, static like sound…"

Gav Brown replied to Robert Fisher's discussion Presence - Piano/Electronics
"Hi Robert, I found this nice. I like ambient and listen to it quite a bit. If there is one thing I could suggest, it would be to speed it up a hair, maybe about 5-10% or so. At its present tempo, it feels a little dirge-like. All in all a good…"
