About Me:
I've been a full-time broadcaster for 41 years and part time musician with a 12 piece swing band for 35 of those years.
I've written 4 original musical comedies that have been locally produced with considerable success and more recently have been writing "pops" orchestrations for symphony orchestra.
As I approach retirement from broadcasting, I'm more interested in pursuing my life-long avocation. I currently have about 2 dozen Christmas orchestrations for full symphony plus chorus and/or soloists that have been locally performed.
Our symphony conductor encouraged me to get on a forum and get my name out to others who are doing similar projects. I've never charged the orchestra a cent for the charts I've done. Several other conductors have inquired about renting them. I'm uncertain of the legality of this and not sure how to deal with the publishers.
Last summer, through a referral, I was commissioned to write 4 orchestrations for Randy Owen of Alabama for his symphony pops concerts. They were well recieved and I was nicely compensated. So, I'm confident of my abilities....but uncertain of how to legally proceed with rental of orchestrations I've written.
Help, advice, etc. from anyone will be welcome.
