Synergystic Self-Regulation - EP

Hi!I last posted on this site about a year and a half ago, which seems, now, like a long time. I've studied a lot with regards to production, sound design, theory, and did a lot of practice, and I'd like to share this little EP with everyone.I'd love to hear anything anyone has to say to improve my production quality, and if there are any tips anyone has to share based on(or not) what they hear from this. Feel free to turn up the volume a little, and enjoy. One of my main ideas was to preserve…See More

Niranjan Raghu replied to Rodney Carlyle Money's discussion What are Your Compositional Goals for 2015?
"I'm gonna get a keyboard and start learning to play it. Possibly go attend a piano class. I wanted to do a cello, but I was advised that it would take years to get to play strings right, so I'm going for a piano. That, and improve my right…"

"Hi Niranjan, that's the style I prefer :) In order to achive better results, may I suggest you some filtering? Try to EQ the plucked synth coming around 1:00 with a High Pass filter. This way the whole atmosphere might turn into something…"

"I was planning to add the drums again as soon as the multi part cello starts around 1:38, only this time, they are less intrusive, because looking back, I felt the snares were a bit too powerful. I shall definitely apply that when I write more to…"

"I like the drums. I was waiting for them to come back in. My only real comment is a mental one. May I suggest not writing gibberish. Consider treating every note as just as important as any other note. There is no filler. Write each note as if the…"

"Thank you! :) That was more than I dared hope: a good atmosphere. I realise that the drums are very... intrusive, but as I mentioned before, it was on the spur of the moment. I ought to work on the strings and the drums. Thank you again!"

"Hi Niranjan, I basically liked this. The atmospheric effect starting around :57 was very effective. I liked the piano opening also. Personally, I can do without the big-ass drums, but I realize they are in vogue. All in all, as a venture into hybrid…"

Hybrid Music - A gentle foray.

Hallo everyone. This is a track I've been working on and off the past two days. I've started an experimental foray into hybrid music, and this is one of my first results. I'd like some critique on the atmosphere that I've attempted to establish between 00:57 and 1:40, because that's where I spent most of my time, trying to etch out complementary, fitting elements. Everything else is as gibberish, because they were instinctual fillers that act to bridge the song.See More

Fredrick zinos replied to Niranjan Raghu's discussion Question about string articulation use.
"The reed waltz above certainly sounds amazingly similar to Benjamin Britten YPG. Maybe its just a coincidence. Why would a file production company hire a live orchestra for the production and then re do with electronic gear for the trailer? Why not…"

Ray replied to Niranjan Raghu's discussion Question about string articulation use.
"Well, the top blockbuster action films will have real orchestra but the trailers for these films most likely won't. TV serial music probably is a hybrid of virtual instrumentation with some real players on top. Documentaries mostly virtual…"

I really love writing music for film, and this includes everything from minimal music to large ensemble scores. I'm equally a visual developer and lighting artist.
