About Me (MUST be more than 10 words to be approved):
Born 1978, started playing piano at age 10. Released my first album at age 17 with Naglfar, the album is called "Vittra". After that I've released +12 albums in different music styles with different bands and also one solo album.
I run a media production company called Morningdew Media since 2003 where I produce music and sound design for film, computer games, web and shows.
When I'm not making music or playing with my son you can find me painting in oils and watercolor. I think life needs balance, and I balance the stressful hours behind the computers with the soothing creative painting process.

Dynamic emotions in music.

Posted on November 18, 2009 at 2:55pm 0 Comments

I'm currently wrapping up the document for a pre-study in dynamic emotions in music...

The study is very interesting, like there has been several (at least two) attempts at creating a music engine with the purpose of modifying music scores in realtime. After browsing through some of the current (and past) studies in the field of emotions in music I finally sattled down with the latest thesis from Steven.R.Livingstone (Changing musical emotion 2005) which is very fascinating indeed. Hi Mattias. Hope you're well and still enjoying composing. Am listening to 'Skippy Symphony' as I write this. Very sweet sounding! Pretty realistic sounds too. Do you know of the game music composer Jeremy Soule? Your music reminds me a bit of his stuff.

I've just recently uploaded some new pieces of mine. I'd love it if you would let me know what you think of one or two of them. I did one track called 'The Grail Knight's Prayer' which is a 14 min orchestral piece. It's pretty dissonant at times though! But you might like a couple of moments here and there ;)

Unfortunately, I no longer build guitars because the shop that I worked for folded-up. Thank you for your interest none the less.

Hi Mattias,
Great to be in touch again. Well done for switching over to Mac, I know exactly how you are feeling. Yes, I have added a new track called 'Samsare' it was originally written for a Yoga DVD and hence the Asian influence. I am also busy doing a Cinematic Orchestration course through Music for the Media which is taking up quite a bit of time.
I'm very impressed with your Bawu improvisation. It is good to see you play it and how you apply your technique. It is such a beautiful, pure and warm sound which is really nice for solo pieces.
Good luck with your Anthem and please let me know when you have posted it so I can listen to it?
Cheers,
Marie-Anne

Hey Mattias. I'm glad that you appreciate the asthetics of my creation. I used to build guitars professionally. What a labour of love ! --- Luminati looks like fun. Versatility is the key to a rich life.

Greeting Mattias! Thank you very much for the invitation. I'm listening to Clash of the Titans. Nice up and down sweeps throughout. Reminds me of the sort of thing one would hear in a score like Lord of the Ring or in a game cinematic like World of Warcraft.

WHOA! You played in Naglfar?!? That's awesome. Man I'm psyched to see more metal musicians (or former metal musicians at least) on here. I've always maintained that there is a LOT in common between metal and classical, and orchestral metal remains one of my favorite sub genres. Anyway, welcome to the forum! Your posted music is phenomenal. Very epic, and beautifully executed!

Hi Mattias,
Thank you for your kind words. I very much enjoyed listening to all your tracks. I love the creative sound palettes, clarity and composition of your work. Amazing! I will be back. Nice website too.
