FWIW, notation-based composers (all 2 of them) treat percussion just like any other instrument. I.e. they write it down. I am planning a course of "Rock for classical musicians" containing writing for the drumset.

I've contemplated this issue often, like when listening to "reconstructed" renditions of music of Alfonso El Sabio, et al. I think they've got the general point of the composer's intent, but some of it sounds unauthentic to me, imbued with some hu...

Strings sound diferently when pressed or not. Certain keys require the strings be more pressed than others. Therefore, on strings, the keys change the timbre. Maybe this key-related differences in timbre have influenced the attribution of feel to...

A frequency is a frequency is a frequency. Each frequency per se has nothing special. And with the well tempered intonation that we all use since Bach (note this includes Beethoven) there is not even nothing special about an interval per se. C/G e...

I agree this Sonata is not particularly special regarding fingering. I'd have to restudy the 3rd movement to be sure, but maybe there is a playability factor there, I seem to remember it going very up and very down in pitch and I thing Bethoveen'...

I am aware of this myth about the "character, mood" of each key. It is myth, anedotical, non-scientific, even if Bethoveen himself believed it, it does not stand a change under rational scrutiny, maybe Bethoveen had absolute earing.

Basically yes. But mind that an octave is a big thing, so for some tunes maybe rekeying to a very distant base may alter the feel a bit. "Normal" people don't have absolute ear but have an approximate one, perhaps in connection with their vocal ra...

Marius,
I feel like such a heel! I completely forgot to reply to the post you sent me months ago regarding collaboration on this site. I can't even find where it was now. I've been dreadfully busy! Did you ever get ANY feedback on the subject?

Hey Marius

Maybe my music sucks? ;)

It's a long and mysterious road, and each persons path to 'success' is different. You have to be in it for the long haul - I've only been really building my career in composing for media for about 4 years. My sense is that the average time for most to 'make it' is about 10 years, give or take. Some guys are better at the hustle and working the phones - I'm more of an organic networker, and I think that makes for a longer trajectory.

Keep working, keep producing good work, get out there and promote your stuff any way you can, and don't forget to enjoy the process along the way!

Cheers,

Adrian

Hi Marius,

Your music is like a haunting and relaxing voice. So, quite beautiful. I loved listening to the first piece which is pretty pleasing. The intriguing tune of "acidrock" has branded on my mind.

All in all, very good work.
