Going to go against the grain on this one. Depending on what the director's vision is, this can be an absolutely fantastic way to work. It requires a good relationship between the two of you, and a lot of trust. It also requires good discussion bet…

That's exactly the way I feel.

I'm going to school to be a music teacher. Composing is more of a hobby for me. Therefore, it won't be a such a bad thing because I don't think composing will EVER be a source of income for me. Plus, this movie is such a small project, I don't think…

the main thing about free work, especially when beginning the very long and difficult journey, is that you will set yourself up to be the 'free' guy, and it will be VERY difficult, if not impossible, to work your way out of the 'he does work for fre…

Thanks so much! I figured I would need to do something like this. I will be working for free. I'm going off to college next year to study music (music education) and score writing is something that fascinates me, and is something I would love to do…

Hi Josh, Not only is this possible but I've heard that this is becoming something of a trend in certain areas, allowing directors and editors to cut pictures to the actual final music rather than temp tracks. Yes it is definitely possible but pers…

Sometimes I'll get a great musical idea in my head and just write it down, but usually I tinker around on the piano until I'm inspired. I use Sibelius to organize all my ideas once I have them figured out.
