About the Music

Most of the newer pieces are things I've done for class at college, while most of the older pieces were simply for fun/to build my portfolio. Everything on here can basically be divided into two categories: video game music, or film music.

iMac Specs for Sample-based Video Game/Film Composition

Hey all,I was wondering if anyone familiar with large orchestral sample library-based composition could give me some advice, as I am looking to buy a new computer. I intend to use a good number of sample libraries, such as East West Symphonic Orchestra, CineBrass, Soundiron Damage, etc, in conjunction with Logic Pro 9, and need a system that will be able to effectively run large sessions in Logic using these kinds of samples.Advice? For example, what kind of processor is best, how much RAM is…See More

About Me (MUST be more than 10 words to be approved):
I've been composing game music for a little while now. Most recently I got to work on Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault, which was an awesome experience! I'm beginning my last year of undergraduate study at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA. I honestly can't wait to graduate and commit myself to composing music for games and (hopefully) film full time. If anyone has any tips or advice or anything to say to me, I would like to read your comments!

Hehe. Well it has cost alot of money! And to be honest, Hollywood Strings has been my best investment since my computer, when it comes to orchestral libraries! Also, I've been looking at other libraries for choirs, and found Liberis and Requiem Pro by Tonehammer. You should look into those. They seem even better than Symphonic Choirs!

Thanks alot John! :D

Yeah I scored a private fake trailer for LOTR that my buddy did. He wanted that theme in there, but still with some originality to it. :)

I used EWQL Hollywood Strings, EWQL Storm Drum, EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Platinum (with Pro XP) and EWQL Symphonic Choirs for this piece, and all the other pieces as well, except of course not the choir, for the pieces that had none. ;)

Hey John, thank you. For most of the stuff I have here I used East West samples with either Sonar when I'm on my PC, or Logic when I'm on my Mac. As for Reminiscence of a Dying Hero, I wrote that before I got any of those. For that one I used Finale with Garritan Personal Orchestra.

Recently though, I got LA Scoring Strings. So I'll update my page with stuff I wrote using that soon.
