"Hi Dave these sound like Irish uilleann pipes.  Which can over blow and are one of the hardest and flexible pipes.  World wide there are around 40 different sorts.  One of my favourites is one of the Italian…"

"Good point.  I have just been telling another composer about my own lack of enjoyment about adding dynamics and tempo's etc to pieces as I used to subscribe to the Baroque and earlier way of thinking that the musicians should be good…"

"Hi, nice piece.  Good gentle lilt.  For me it could do with a bit more dynamic contrast?  And maybe working on the shaping of phrases using dynamics etc.  You might consider some tempo change such as a rit... at the end or a…"

"Hi Timo, some nice touches in here.  Thank you. What are you using to produce your orchestral sound? Perhaps not arpeggio layering but layering none the less, try. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82-xbhfNR2g"

Jim Tribble replied to Bob Morabito's discussion "OH NO..it sounded GREAT yesterday..What happened???"
"Surely that is part of the process, to figure out and experiment, to see how things sound altered.  That is the fun (for me) of composing.  I keep changing things until they do not annoy me any more.  I still revisit pieces that I…"

Jim Tribble replied to Bob Morabito's discussion What is your biggest obstacle to composing in the way you want your music to sound?
"I think learning to believe in yourself seems to be one of the main ways of finding happiness.  All this seems a huge amount of lonely work.  I did reach out 4 or 5 years ago but have lapsed due to other pressures.  I will try…"

"Just to say that "I liken myself as an alien in a strange land" is not to say that current culture is wrong.  It is what it is."

Jim Tribble replied to Bob Morabito's discussion What is your biggest obstacle to composing in the way you want your music to sound?
"Hi Bob, it is good to have a conversation about composing.  I liken myself as an alien in a strange land, as my interests are so outside of current culture.   Derek lives in Edinburgh, and I see him a few times a year in orchestra…"

Hi, I am a composer living and working in Scotland. I have been writing for 30 years but have only recently been confident enough to show my works to anyone. I write accessible music which uses techniques, and influences from medieval to the present day. I particularly enjoy the Baroque period but like music of all genres. The music that you hear on this site is only computer generated but has been played by musicians. I have recently had my first official recording from Parma records. My main income however comes from teaching upper strings and Piano for Dundee Council. I also play early music for Scottish Heritage in Edinburgh Castle and at Roslynn Chapel, and I also play Viola, Celeste and Harpsichord in various local orchestras to keep me up to speed.
