Jan-Frederik Carl replied to Kjell Prytz's discussion Amber - Guitar and Clarinet concert piece
"Michael Diemer used the expression "organic", and I think that hits the nail. It has very much something of a flow. I like the tune a lot, I hear Bruckner, Brahms, northern european music also perhaps."

Sahir Haider replied to Jan-Frederik Carl's discussion Breaking of waves - piano piece
"Hi Jan- Frederik,  This is actually a really good piano work. I'm quite sure Schoenberg's works were an inspiration to you but I also feel this to be slightly reminiscient of Hindemith's piano works such as Ludus Tonalis and…"

Jan-Frederik Carl replied to Sahir Haider's discussion The Drifting Waltz - for solo piano
"Hi Sahir, I think you achieved well what you wanted. I can feel a slow change of mood and especially musical style in the piece here and there (sometimes its chopinesque, then seems to float to modernity - early Schönberg?). But this is hold…"

Colin Dougall replied to Jan-Frederik Carl's discussion Breaking of waves - piano piece
"Hi An interesting work. What I found most striking was the opposite, almost counter intuitive effect you achieve with your (lack of) pedalling - one might reasonably have expected long sustained passages given the subject matter.  Enjoyed…"

Ingo Lee replied to Jan-Frederik Carl's discussion Breaking of waves - piano piece
"I enjoyed this a lot Jan.  It has a lot of dissonance but you have phrased it smoothly and the overall arc of the piece lets it open up towards the end which is a effective approach.  I look forward to hearing more from you!"

Dane Aubrun replied to Jan-Frederik Carl's discussion Breaking of waves - piano piece
"Hi, Jan-Frederik, Well, this is my kind of music! I think you described it very well, symbolic - a neo-symbolic work. (Stylistically reminiscent of Debussy's Prelude Brouillards.) One thing I loved about the work as confirmed by the score is…"

Jan-Frederik Carl replied to OscoBosco's discussion My first piano sonata with video score
"Hello Oscar, I listened with pleasure. Is this meant as a one-part sonata with "inner movements"? I must confess that I still have some problems to get at the inner structure of the piece but will keep on listening ... To some extend, I…"

Jan-Frederik Carl replied to Dane Aubrun's discussion Symphony for strings (working title only) 1st or last movement.
"Hi, Dane, it has a nice overall sound. What I find strange in places is the mix of consonances and dissonances you use. F.ex. the whole beginning and especially m. 6 sounds very consonant, so that the chord in m. 15 is really a surprise and to my…"
