World Music Group

I would like to announce that I am starting a new group for world music composers or for anyone interested in exploring how world music or the use of ethnic intruments might add to your composing repetoire. I hope to regularly update the group with items of interest and hopefully we can exchange ideas. I also would like to interview some of the group members about their interest in world music and to publish this for the group. As always these plans will depend upon what interest is shown. So, c… Continue

Is it really that long? .....and some new tunes!

Gosh, it's back in august since I last posted anything on this forum! I have been continuing to enjoy my exploration of world music and I have written quite a few tunes in the meantime. I am tending to compose from my keyboard by improvisation and then tidying things up. It seems to produce a more "spontaneous" performance. I have posted two or three of these world music tunes to my playlist. Greetings to my fellow composers. (I'm starting to get more comfortable with calling myself a composer n… Continue

My new direction in to world music

I have been rather quiet lately on this forum as I have been exploring the genre of world music which I am a big fan of. I have now posted my first offering in this genre and so I hope you like it. It is called The Relaxing Sitar and I think it does what it says on the tin.

Excellent! Thanks alot. I think they may be taking a leaf out of Native Instruments book which gives away free Kore Player and sounds and tempts you with lots of lovely expensive sound packs that you can't resist to buy!

About Me:
Harpsichordal aka Nigel. I think of my self as a minimalist world music composer. I write often from my keyboard in an improvisational style and that way I try to get across the emotional side of my music making, which for me at least is a kind of spiritual experience. With minimalist music there are really two composers: the composer and the listener. I hope you can enjoy my work and create with me in between the spaces!

Thanks for your comments on my guitar playing. It sucks, actually XD

Well, my computer is a bit limited, thus I can´t use many programms to create music. Right now it´s just finale and edirol orchestral.

Hi Hapsichordal, I'm actually not a classical composer, but I noticed that you've got some pretty nice experimental tracks on the wall. So I'm gonna try to compose something especially for you. Merry Christmas!

lol I must be a n00b..I had absynth but never got to figure out how it works? I use fruity loops whenever I need electronic sounds and/or samples.

By the way, the harpsichord is one of my favourite classic instruments XD

I really liked Riples. I am not into world music, so Riples and Afternoon tea were my favourites XD.
What do you use for the electronic sounds? Absynth?
