World Music Group

I would like to announce that I am starting a new group for world music composers or for anyone interested in exploring how world music or the use of ethnic intruments might add to your composing repetoire. I hope to regularly update the group with items of interest and hopefully we can exchange ideas. I also would like to interview some of the group members about their interest in world music and to publish this for the group. As always these plans will depend upon what interest is shown. So, c… Continue

Is it really that long? .....and some new tunes!

Gosh, it's back in august since I last posted anything on this forum! I have been continuing to enjoy my exploration of world music and I have written quite a few tunes in the meantime. I am tending to compose from my keyboard by improvisation and then tidying things up. It seems to produce a more "spontaneous" performance. I have posted two or three of these world music tunes to my playlist. Greetings to my fellow composers. (I'm starting to get more comfortable with calling myself a composer n… Continue

My new direction in to world music

I have been rather quiet lately on this forum as I have been exploring the genre of world music which I am a big fan of. I have now posted my first offering in this genre and so I hope you like it. It is called The Relaxing Sitar and I think it does what it says on the tin.

I would love to share and create music together. But I guess we use different softwares. How do you think that'll be possible ? And also, I don't know how to read music. Any way out ?

Hey ! Cool stuff.
Very different, very calm.
It's eccentric in a sarcastic way.
It was good to hear the tabla ! I liked Starlight !
How did you get hold of so many ethnic instruments ? Like the Sitar, Tanpura, Tabla and Bansuri ? How was your you introduction to Eastern Classical ? I would love to know ?
I love "Apart". How would you take it if I asked if you could consider adding a tabla to it ?
I like "afternoon tea" as well !
You are a cool composer !

Thanks Harpsichordal, what's your name ?
Thank you for going through my music.
"Name Later" was made for a short film. But that never happened. It was to be the background of a scene where a boy and a girl meet, and pass unrecognized. They both relive and repent the moment through the rest of eternity. The film was to be called "Name Later" based on that moment, which was too precious to be named in a hurry.
Going through your music...
