Rise to Fall - Inspired by Dark Knight Rises

Hello AllMy first real post on the forum. I'm blind folded and ready for the firing squad.  This composition is intended to be cinematic piece inspired by the Dark Knight Rises film. Since I aspire to compose for film and television I figured this was a good place to start. I know the brass is a little thin (i'm still learning the mixing aspect of this game). Let me know what you guys think. And yes the last two phrases are Zimmer's Dark Knight Theme to tie the piece in. Is that against the…See More

Ray is right about that. Using other peoples works and rescoring it for your demo is considered very taboo and uncool in the pro world. Sure, score over other peoples' work to practice and then strip the music out and use that without the video, but you really should never use publicly other people's works in that way, even if you found a way that it is technically legal ;-) Welcome to the forum tho Gharun, I hope to hear more of your work

"I appreciate your comment however I have researched this topic extensively and have managed to find a sweet spot in the middle of US copyright laws."

My advice had less to do with law and more to do with your standing in a relatively small community of trailer music producers. What you are doing is crass and quite frankly not up to the standard of the originals. Just my personal opinion you understand. By all means come back and give me abuse for talking garbage once you've made it in the industry.

I would advise, you remove the unlicensed video content from your website.

It may be fair game to use them in your own home or studio for practising but absolutely wrong to publish them.
